2 Corinthians 13:14: “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
@johnirish9892 күн бұрын
In all of his salutations in all his epistles Paul mentions but one time the Holy Spirit, this one time you cite, and it's merely the COMMUNION of the Holy Spirit. Can you explain this almost total apparent disrespect for the so-called third person of the only man-called trinity? Luke 1:35 provides a definition of this man-called person: the POWER of the MOST High.
@gregblake27642 күн бұрын
This verse is commonly used to support the Trinity doctrine however it clearly shows three distinct entities. What if it said "may the grace of Bob, and the love of Matt, and the fellowship of John be with you". Would you consider Bob, Matt, and John to be three manifestations of a single being? Also, in this verse why is only one called God? According to Jesus only the Father is the one true God, John 17:3.

@@johnirish989 Matthew 28:19: In the Great Commission, Jesus commands baptism “in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” This verse highlights the threefold nature of God’s name. Genesis 1:26 and 3:22: The plural pronoun “us” is used, indicating a sense of plurality in God. The Hebrew word “Elohim” (God) is also plural, allowing for the Trinity. Isaiah 6:8: The prophet Isaiah describes God as speaking in the plural, “Let us go up to the heights,” suggesting a divine council or community. John 14:16-17: Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit (the Comforter) in his name, emphasizing the Spirit’s role as a distinct person. John 15:26: Jesus says the Holy Spirit will testify about him, indicating a separate entity from himself. Acts 5:3-4: Peter accuses Ananias of lying to the Holy Spirit, implying a distinction between the Spirit and God the Father. Hebrews 9:14: Jesus is said to offer himself as a sacrifice to God the Father, with the Holy Spirit as a witness. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6: Paul describes the Holy Spirit as a distinct gift from God the Father, given to believers. 2 Corinthians 13:14: Paul wishes the Corinthian church “the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.” Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1: The Son (Jesus) speaks of God the Father and the Holy Spirit, demonstrating their distinct yet unified nature.

John 1:18 ""No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, WHO IS HIMSELF GOD, and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known" (Emp added). Gen 1:26 "Then God said, 'Let US make mankind in OUR image, in OUR likeness ....." (Emp added) God is One, yet clearly plural. 1:27 " So God created mankind in his own image..." Also, if you move down from John 17:3 to John 17:5 "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." Jesus says he had glory with the Father, before creation/world/man" Clearly Jesus is God. Thomas doubted but then believed Jesus was God and his Lord. John 20:28 "Thomas said to him, ' My Lord and my God" Thomas said to Jesus, my God. Many other scriptures make this clear such as Moses at the burning bush being told the name of God as. "I AM" , the same name Jesus claimed for Himself. John 8:58 "Very truly I tell you, 'Jesus answered, ' before Abraham was born, I am!" At this they picked up stones to stone him". Jesus forgave sins, received worship on many occasions etc Jesus is Son of God, God, but also Son of Man, man

3:43 Jesus told the disciples, "And in that day *you will ask Me nothing.* Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you *ask the Father* in My name He will give you." It's clear that Jesus taught the disciples to pray to God and not to him. I'll stick with Jesus' teaching.
@BibleAnswerManКүн бұрын
@Nashvillain10SE The Son ascends to the Father and asks the Father to Send the Spirit. But from the Father proceeds the Spirit. The Spirit reminds the believer of the teachings of the Son. The Son communicates to the believer through the Spirit. The Spirit certainly communes with the Christian. We are not aware of any passage of Scripture in which believers explicitly pray to the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus instructed His disciples concerning the Holy Spirit, saying, “he will testify about me” (John 15:26) and “when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come” (John 16:13). The work and ministry of the Holy Spirit includes bringing glory to Christ by bringing us into union with Him through faith (Eph 2:1, 6-10), which may be a reason why we do not find in Scripture instances of directed prayer to the Spirit of God. Moreover, the Holy Spirit is intimately and integrally involved in our prayers to God. Paul writes, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God” (Rom 8:26-27). As well, to the believers in Ephesus, Paul eloquently explains that “through him [Christ] we both [Jew and Gentile] have access to the Father by one Spirit” (Eph 2:18), and later he admonishes them to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (6:18; cf. Jude 1:20).

@KOH777-gp6ut, seek renewal in His Spirit daily and ask for strength. I have been led to ask for that for years and, in the beginning, wondered why because as an RC as a child, it was their teaching that the Spirit was imparted as we asked before or during confirmation. Then I heard a story about DL Moody being asked about why he always sought a freshening in the Spirit. His response was, “because I am flesh and flesh leaks.” That worked for me. We all feel weak and troubled, at times, and that is when the enemy is most apt to approach you with whispers and taunts. Tell the devil to go to hell. Say, get behind me, satan. Hell? NO!!!

A perfect example of this that is ruined by our own mortality is... The husband and wife become... ONE FLESH or one. So what you do to one.. you also do to the other. When you praise one, you also praise the other. If the husband and wife DO work in perfect harmony, at least for a time, this rule absolutely applies to them in the same way, but to a lesser extent obviously, as it does to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Did you ever say or have heard said to another person, "I appeal to your sense of justice" or "honor" or "compassion"? These are all different aspects of the spirit or mind of the same person. One step further; have you ever had an internal debate between (say) your sense of "compassion" against your sense of "moral justice"? - two different, in our case, sometimes opposing aspects of your own mind. God is so unfathomably vast that each complex aspect of God seems to us to be a distinct individual. God is a creator. God controls reality. God is compassionate and loving. God is a protector and provider. God is a discerning judge in all things. The prayer Jesus taught, The Lord's Prayer, actually speaks to all the aspects of God, one at a time. Each aspect of God plays a different role in our lives as we understand it, but they all come from one God. *John 14:9, Jesus makes a profound statement to Philip: “He who has seen me has seen the Father.” - they are one-in-the-same.*

Jesus taught His Apostles to pray to the Father. That was before the Church or Body of Christ was established. However, Scripture after the resurrection tells us this, Colossians 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in ALL things he might have the preeminence.” Ephesians 5:23 “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.” 1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:” 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”. I know that the latter verses speak in relation to our sin, however it is in proper context to a husband and wife such as the Bride and the Bridegroom. I use to pray to the Father, but now I pray to Jesus. Remember too, that Israel is the divorced wife of God the Father, Jeremiah 3:8 “And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.”

The claim that one may “pray” to Jesus is possible only because the ambiguity and/or wide connotation of “pray” is not uncovered. I may “pray in aid” someone or something without “praying” to him or it; I may “pray” the king to grant me a favour, without regarding him as divine; and I can ask Jesus for something that he said that I could ask him for, without “praying” to him. We have the same problem with other words - eg, “worship”. Or, one could say that there are weak and strong connotations attached to such words; and, if so, we must not confound the two.

@menmustchangebeforekingdoms I prayed to Jesus and the Father every day about an issue with my Mother in law. I didn't know if my Father in law made it to heaven or not, but I prayed intercessory prayer anyway. One day, i was riding my motorcycle home from work and the traffic stopped on the left and right of me. I was going 40 mph. A silver car cut me off at half a car length. Then, two angels appeared and one held the right side of the bike hand and foot and one the left. I ended up in a room that they took me to and I could see heaven from it. The sat to my right. I could hold up my hand in the Light from heaven and see my bones, it was that strong. Then a 19 year old came in the room and sat down across from me. We talked about the issue for 40 minutes. Then he said it is taken care of. He said take care of my daughter Birdie! Then I knew it was my Father in law and he made it. He was never saved and apparently an hour after we were in the hospital to see him , the hospital Chaplin came in who he was friends with. He got saved 2 hours before he died. No baptism, works, fruits, gifts. And he was transfered immediately from the hospital to heaven he told me.

And the Bible does say that Jesus and the Holy Spirit intercede for us so even if we pray to one of them, we know they are part of the Father and they are the connecting line to get that prayer to him is how I feel....if I wrote down my prayer and went to give it to God, I would have to put it on one of his hands...just like Jesus and the Holy Spirit...they are a part of him and can't work without connection to him...that's just my personal way of understanding it though

@BibleAnswerMan16 сағат бұрын
@Anthony-ix3rp Christians generally pray to the Father, through the Son, according to the power of the Holy Spirit. @jimb96828 Thanks for chiming in. Analogies for the Trinity tend to fall apart if pushed too far. Scriptures teach God is one essence (nature/substance) revealed in three hypostases (persons/subjects), namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are distinct according to their relationships. Unlike just different roles a person takes, there are relational distinctions between the three persons of the Trinity. In John 1, 3, 14-16, we find that the Father begets the Son, the Son is begotten of the Father, the Father is the processor of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father, the Spirit brings to memory what the Son taught the disciples, whatever the Spirit hears from the Son is communicated to the disciples, all that the Son possesses comes from the Father, and the Spirit takes all that belongs to the Son and declares it to the disciples. Christianity is life in the Trinity. The confusion starts with the belief that God is three separate entities. This is the exact definition of paganism and condemned by the one true God is His holy word. Jesus is God manifested in flesh as He claimed in the NT. He is both God and man and spoke as both in scriptures. Research the Council of Nicaea in the third century and you will see where much of the confusion started turning God into three separate gods influenced by the popular paganism of that time. Isaiah 9:6 Please read the whole bible as it reveals One God with a plan to save His creation by becoming one of us and dying for our sins. The Holy Spirit is not a separate entity from God but is a method He uses to convict and speak to us in his realm. The two basic tenants of scriptures is God is Love and God is one. Do everything in the name of Jesus as He commanded, including baptism. Acts 2:38 and Acts 9:1-7.

1:36 The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are NOT eternally separate. The Father became the Son. Hebrews 2:14-16. God said, “Let us make man in our image.” He became Jesus’ father when His spirit overshadowed Jesus’ mother, Mary. So, why did He use plural pronouns? Because He was speaking to the sons of God and the morning stars, as He declared to Job in chapter 38:4-7. He also revealed His plan to be made man in Deuteronomy 18:15. God is the LORD of hosts. That title occurs 245 times in the KJV Bible. Ask yourself, what is “a host?” You are a host. All of us hosts have already been created, Genesis 2:1. (Exodus 12:41 will give insight.). Many have already “been made in their image.” It only happens once, and then the judgement, as stated in Hebrews 9:27. We are made in His image. He has a heavenly body, a spirit, and He experienced life, and death, of the flesh. We partake of life in the flesh too. But, His spirit is different than ours, as it is omnipresent and omnipotent.

The Preeminant PERSONA Of The ONE True Triune, non-"Trinitarian" God IS FatherGod Yahuah Most High THE LORD, with Whom NO ONE has any Redemptive Relationship except In, By, Thru, & Unto YAHUshAH Messiah OUR Lord-- HE WHO Comes In THE Name O f THE Everlasting Father, Revealing HIM-SELF As THe Prince Of Peace-- Isaiah, The Prophet most- quoted by YahOurSavior/ Y'shua Messiah, GodWithUs Emanuel-- THe Very Heart Of The Father Incarnate!-- THE Great I Am THE SELF- Existent ONE, WHO Makes HIM-SELF Known by the things HE has made, even His Eternal Power Of God- Hood-- NOT the Jesuit- contrived, conflating term of "God-Head"; that poses HIM As an impersonal High Counsel or Divine Committee, deceptively- prone to the devices of Roman Catholicism, in the service of Seed Of The Serpent Babylon Mystery Religion! We, As HIS imago Deo/Image Bearers, of 3 Primary Natures, Spirit> Soul>& Body, ALWAYS remain the Same, INDIVID- ualar, Singular Identity; as do sun/stars, manifesting also in the 3 Principle Phases of their Power-- core, body, & radiant energy!

@JeffreyHaswell-iw5dx A strict monotheistic deity is morally deficient. The God revealed in Scriptures is Triune. @emilioreyes5218 Thanks for sharing. God is one essence (nature/substance) revealed in three hypostases (persons/subjects), namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are distinct according to their relationships. It’s all the same. Everyone is going to learn that Jesus is the Father.

@Move_I_Got_This-b3v Respectfully disagree. God is one essence (nature/substance) revealed in three hypostases (persons/subjects), namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are distinct according to their relationships. Christians pray to the Father, through the Son, according to the power of the Holy Spirit. @randytidmore8021 Good point! Christians generally pray to the Father, through the Son, according to the power of the Holy Spirit

There are two beings in the Godhead. They are God the heavenly Father and God the Son Jesus Christ, who was and is the Word in the Old Testament and who also created all things with the Father. There is no trinity.

@johnsauvola Disagree. Not convinced of the Binity. Scriptures teach God is one essence (nature/substance) revealed in three hypostases (persons/subjects), namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are distinct according to their relationships.
