Excellent video. Love how you made it clear and easy to hear the differences. The Neumann's were too sibilant and pick up all the mouth noises. The Lauten's seem worth looking into.

The most versetile michrophone ever made is AKG C414EB with brass capsule. One of the best evermade regardless the price range. Owning m49, u67, u87, u89, T250 etc. I always ending going back to AKG C414 EB. Everything that iv put in front of that microphone sounds natural, accurate and smoking good. Built like a tank!

La 220- sounds pretty natural and open, not as shrill as the tlm 103 At 4040- lot of body not enough highs. Remind me of nt1 La 320- very bright but those low and mids were no slouch. Little less fuller then the 4040. 102- dark but fairly open richer tone than 320 However the 320 is smoother to my ears being that's it's a tube mic. 103- fairly good more cleaner and brighter then 102 and low priced mics but hated it.

Hey Edward! Been following your channel for a while. Appreciate you putting out content for studio gear heads and for those who are just starting out! I’m seriously considering getting the 320 as my first tube mic. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I tried looking everywhere for videos of how to actually connect the mic to the external power supply. This might sound like a dumb question but does the power supply connect to an audio interface?

Hi! Yes, the LA-320 is a great mic for the price! The XLR cable you would usually plug into your microphone plugs into the power supply in this case. From the power supply, you connect a 5 pin cable (which comes with the mic) to the microphone itself. Tube microphones have their own unique connecting cable (unlike FET mics that are all XLR connecting).

@@A1DULLUdude…I’m telling you now. Lauten Audio has a mic called the “Clarion” or the FC 357, please get that microphone! The TLM 103 was my first high end mic, and I was in love when i first got it, but over time as I learned more about mixing I realized there were times when I had to attenuate way too many high end frequencies to the point I felt I was destroying the vocal. The clarion is just as bright and clear as the TLM 103 without as many unnecessary high frequencies! It’s so good and tho originally the same price you can find it for up to 200 dollars less than the TLM! Please look into this microphone, I’m only telling you because I wish someone had told me about it before, this company is just so slept on people don’t know about it.
