Adam rapa’s lotus mouthpieces have been getting a lot of traction recently, I would love to see a video where you discuss/compare the spectratone mouthpieces to the lotus. Efficiency, tone, etc. Love the content as always.

The Kanstul CG personal has a #20 drill throat. The Marcinkewitz offers a #22 throat as well as #20. They also have a Benge CG 3. Claude played on the Kanstul with a #20 throat. I got mine from Claude in 1982. I still play it on all my different keyed horns except for piccolo.

I have all three of the Kanstul CG Cornet m.p.'s. One Kanstul Trumpet CG mouthpiece. Very comfortable rims.

Marcinkiewicz makes 3 versions of the CG Personal. P-20 (.161 throat) P-22 (.157 throat) and CG 3 (.157 throat). CG3 has a shallower cup depth than the P's. The P-20 and P-22 are great - very free blowing and rich tone, I like them both a lot.

Useful video. I'll never have one of these but I love how it makes me think about Spectratone possibilities.

After I got my Bach Stradivarious in high school(I think in 1987), I also got a couple of years of lessons just to help my playing move forward. The instructor used the Claude Gordon book and I had to buy the mouthpiece. It was a nice mouthpiece but I never really liked it that much, as I always felt I had to use a LOT of air to really make this work well. I only used the mouthpiece for lessons. I still have the mouthpiece and the books. A friend also in band got the Claude Gordon trumpet and the mouthpiece. Of course, being a comeback player, I'm back on the mouthpiece hunt. The Kickstarter for the Spectratone was bad timing for me since I am between jobs at the moment so money is a bit tight, but that's how it goes sometimes.

I tried out the Benge CG model horn back in '81 and did not like the mouthpiece at all, it kind of locked me into one position and couldn't get around the horn with it. The Claude Gordon books are fine if used sparingly, I favor using a more musical approach.

I found that I need an acclamation period with the CG Personal. But I've had more success with it than the CG 3.

Also, it was Zig. He made them for Patty Gordon.

Marcinkiewicz makes them but they vary some size wise from the Kanstul which i believe are truer to the original design. But I could be mistaken.

Its very similar to early 20th century MPC's i.e cookie cutters like H.N.White and others used to produce/ sell. I like these types of MPC'S . Comfortable rims are desired and these types have it. 3c Bach's hurt my lips. Really don't enjoy using a Bach.
