This will be a bit longer of a video sense I will be going over both books and the pros and cons of both. Both Omni's have their pros and cons like you said, depending on what kind of reader you are. I have both the 10th Anniversary Omni and The Flash Vol 3 and tend to go with whatever I'm currently in the mood for. If I want the whole story then the Anni gets the job, if I just want the event it's V3. The Omni's mapping in general can be confusing when it comes to DC at least back in the day. I was a Marvel Guy for a long time and while I knew who Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern were, I never religiously kept up with them unlike Marvel so when I did decide to get into it, I asked my friend who was a big DC guy where I should start and at the time he basically said "Start with Infinite Crisis and go from there, depending on who you're interested in, as at the time IC was the last big DC universe reset." So I got the Infinite Crisis Omni and all 3 Geoff John's Green Lantern Omni's and the first 2 Geoff Johns Flash Omni's (The third wasn't out yet when I got them) and I will never forget what he told me when I asked him the reading order and he said. "Right so you want to read the entire Geoff John's Flash Volume 1, cos all of that takes place before Infinite Crisis." then you want to read the first 10 issues of Green Lantern Vol 1, cos those take place before Infiinite Crisis. Then you want to stop, read the entire Infinite Crisis Omni. Then you want to read the rest of the Green Lantern V1 and most of the V2 Omni's and the entire Flash Omni V2 which will lead you into Final Crisis." And I was like uh okay...I guess? :P So while the mapping of the 10th Anniversary Omni isn't the biggest issue for me, having gone through all that mess when I started reading DC Omni's more, there is a nice simplicity to the GJ Flash Omni V3 when it comes to just "I want to read the Flashpoint event."

Could not agree more my friend! I think if you want the main story so you can understand the impact following (new 52) them vol 3 is more then enough. But if you wanna appreciate and live in the vast world GJ and his crew made for the event then the anniversary will for sure give you more content in that world. Also I don’t always bounce around Omnis when trying to get the story chronologically neither, that can be a bit much when you just wanna read.

I picked up The Flash Vol. 3 that includes Flash Rebirth starting in Final Crisis and Blackest Night tie in, I also bought the Flashpoint tie in tpb's for the rest of the Flashpoint story.

I think you should look Flashpoint as one thing and the Flashpoint Omnibus as a companion. For me the best thing is to: - Read Flashpoint (Flash Vol3, TPB, Absolute or whatever you have) - Then get into the Flashpoint Omnibus as a "Flashpoint World book" and just glance/skip the Flashpoint issues. You can do the above with just the Flashpoint Omnibus if you don´t mind navigating the book bit.

Spot on assessment and recommendation! Totally agree! Flash Vol 3 gives you what you NEED but if you wanna dive into the world then the Flashpoint Omni as a “Flashpoint World” book is a great way to look at it. Navigating the book will be a tough one for some tho.

Thanks so much for this detailed review of the books. I was about to buy the flashpoint omnibus, but have now decided against it as i want a more fluid consistent read of the story.

This was another fantastic video! Thank you for sharing! The Geoff Johns Omnibus is a great way to learn about the inner workings of characters. The Flashpoint Omnibus is more of a blockbuster event collection with some world building that begins and ends with that event. Both worthwhile just completely different styles. Thank you for sharing! Just a heads up: There is apparently a challenge out there now for people to make a video about the Top 5 Most Important Comics for the person making the video. If you are up to the challenge, I'd love to see it! I had to use a unique look for my video. Lol Keep on being amazing!

Great video. Appreciate you. I have the Flashpoint trade and tie in trades. Had to have the Johns run in Omni format. I’m not gonna lie, I have been tempted to get the 10 anniversary Flashpoint Omni but haven’t yet.

I’d save if you have the trades and the Johns Omnis your probably good unless you really REALLY wanna upgrade. Just keep in mind the horrendous Table Of Contents with no page numbers and make sure your okay with that before buying, that’s a deal breaker for a lot of people.

I really wish they had included the Batman issue in the Geoff Johns vol. 3 omnibus. That would have been perfect. Otherwise to me it isn’t close. The Geoff Johns vol. 3 is by far the superior omnibus. There’s just too much filler in the Flashpoint omnibus. I have all those issues in trade anyway. And those Flash stories in the vol. 3 are some of my favorite Flash/Geoff Johns stories.

Love to hear your opinion on this! I agree that the Vol 3 is a pretty good route to go I just personally love all the tie in issues and don’t view it really as filler even tho it pretty much doesn’t matter post flashpoint. I do agree that Vol 3 of Johns run has some pretty incredible stories but that would be all of his run honestly.
