I’ve taken the quiz several times and my order tends to oscillate between Willshaper and Lightweaver. The one I identify more with depends on the day, lol.

I've taken the quiz like 5-6 times at this point. I'm a Lightweaver through and through (81%), and there's a pretty big margin to second place (Willshaper 56%). Also, apparently one can get negative points in this quiz. This is the first time I noticed this, I think. (oh, hey, my inner Saze) Anyway, I am -5% Bondsmith 😄 Yep, there are many names for the Cosmere fandom/Sanderson fandom. But the most common at this point is definitely Sanderfans Love the video, btw ❤ It feels almost like a companion to the Q&A one)) Can't wait for when you start Era 2 of Mistborn (or really whatever Cosmere book is on your radar next, there's still a lot to choose from). Those books are a lot of fun

Elsecaller here. I'm you but scholarly (somewhat, it's more Navani scholarship than Jasnah tbh). Think you'd want a normal spren or one of Sja-anat's? Not to get meta about it but the Sanderson books are chunky so I think it's fair to assume anyone doing the test unless they were referred it by a friend or randomly stumbled into it would be a pretty big reader.

Interesting question! My gut feeling is to go with a regular spren and I think this because the Sja-anats are still so unknown and unpredictable that I would want to see how it progresses if that makes sense! I’d love my own Pattern or Syl cause they’re cute and I love them dearly!

@@imtalkingwaffles Fair enough and I get it. I'd be somewhat concerned about the foresight myself since we know it's not entirely accurate. I feel most of the bonded spren we've met have been lovely. Personally I think I would have liked a Phendorana (Teft's spren) or maybe a cultivationspren like Wyndle.

I think a very interesting exercise with this survey is to have friends and family answer it how they think you would answer it and see what they get. A third person survey, I guess you could call it. After all, it’s the spren, a third party, who chooses you and dictates your order, so having someone else fill it out for you is about the same. That’s my two cents at least.

@@imtalkingwaffles I think it has a chance of being more accurate too. I’m 99% sure I got Truthwatcher on my first run of the survey, but now when I retake it, I almost always get Edgedancer by only a couple of % points… my friend and my sister, on the other hand, got solid Truthwatcher and Skybreaker as the runner up, which I do think is accurate. Another interesting finding is when an old friend, who I don’t see very often now days, took it for me, she got Skybreaker as the 1st. So I was either more of a Skybreaker back in the day, or her time distilled memory of me is more Skybreakery.

You hit the distinction pretty well on the head as the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law is the key difference between Skybreakers and Windrunners. We know from Nale and the training games that the law is followed by Skybreakers with no moral interjections. If you attack an officer of the law with an edged weapon in Tashikk? Death, irrespective of who you are or why you did it. You can cheat a little bit in competitions but you must follow the exact wording of the rules to win. (Example of this would be the game with the dyes where they count how many marks you have at the end. No rule mentioned you couldn't clean the marks off first.) By contrast, Windrunners work off what feels just to them and the spirit of the law. You can rebel against orders or natural law because the people under the law need help but you shouldn't do it just because it benefits you (or discretion in how you deal with those guilty of minor crimes). It has much greater leeway and subjectivity than the strictness of the Skybreakers which could be argued as making it less fair (if you're a friend of the Windrunner for instance they might let you off, with the Skybreaker judgement is guaranteed) but has the benefit of additional considerations that the Skybreakers do not so it might be a more considered and socially acceptable judgement due to the inclusion of ethics. (For example, a Skybreaker might arrest a thief for stealing food whereas the Windrunner might buy the thief's food so it isn't stolen.) It's tougher to define the spirit of the law but it's ultimately there to serve the people. From the previous example of stealing food, there's a law against theft but it's to protect the shopkeeper's livelihood. It doesn't mean that people with no ability to purchase food should starve. Both approaches have merits to different people. Personally I think the Windrunner code is better provided the Windrunner is a decent judge of what is just without too much personal bias but it definitely has the potential to be abused. It's going to be very interesting seeing this divide manifest in Winds and Truth. Szeth has his crusade but Kaladin is presumably going to be nearby and I suspect he might struggle to let justice be dealt through Nightblood and the assassin in white considering the last time he was asked to stand aside for assassins.

Thank you for going into depth on this! It really helped. I agree I feel like I agree more with the Windrunners over the Skybreakers. Really excited for Szeth’s story it’s gonna be super interesting for sure!

@@imtalkingwaffles You're welcome although I feel that partly me giving in to the temptation to ramble. It's interesting how they share a surge but are otherwise complete opposites (Windrunners having the second surge of adhesion while Skybreakers have division for instance.) I expect a lot of poignant conversations to be had and of course a lot of evil to be destroyed.
