Which order should I sit the CIMA Objective Test Exams?

So far I picked right! writing P2 in the next few weeks. The work is not difficult, but the exam technique seems to go by the wayward. Too many caluclations in too little time, seems to the be issue. Complex questions for 1 mark even if you know it, seems counter intuitive to skip, but I believe its the right thing to do and then go back. Will see how it goes... Believe it or not, this isn’t the way most people recommend it. But I like to do things differently 👀 don’t get stuck up on calculations, the number of calcs in real exams is only between 8-10, never as many as in the mocks! Exam day strategy mate, simple and quick questions first, long and complex at the end. It’s about the marks you pick up not the split of marks on easy/complex questions 🙃

Hi Craigo, just watched this again as got my E1 exam on 17th and figuring out which one to tackle next. Just to confirm, you said momentum was key for you, but although first time pass rates were lower for P1, you still recommend to sit this second for the reason that the case study is heavily focused on F1 (accounting standards)?

Spot on! I found accounting standards rather than Management techniques far more tricky to retain, and therefore that’s why I chose to study F1 directly before the case study. Saved re-learning!

Hi Craigo, thanks for this. Very useful! Whats your advice on when to sit the exam? I.e. at the operational level would you advise to sit the classes/study the content for E1 immediately followed by the exam OR study the E1, P1 and F1 syllabuses in parralel, FOLLOWED by sitting the exams in parallel, in the order you advised? Personally im thinking the former would be best but interested to hear what you think?

Hey Dan - I would say it all depends on your working situation. I suspect you're working full time & studying alongside? In that case, one exam is tough enough and therefore I recommend your first approach. If however I didn't work, and studied full time, then I would be aiming for nearer your second approach. Not aware of anyone who has ever had this luxury though!
