I have and had all of them, the night breaker laser is by far the brightest and best for inclement weather. It also the best for people who have vision issues at night. The cbn is a big disappointment from the looks department, it’s much more yellowish white than your traditional cbi. The output is definitely there but to me if you want the modern clean look you will disappointed. The cbb has great output overall and is t close to 7k, more like 5500-6k. It’s nowhere near the bluish hue you see in most modern Audi led headlights. The base cbi is excellent choice both from a color (super clean pure white) and cost point. The output is better than most bulbs on the market including factory.

I've had Cool blue intense 5000K D2S in 2015. and I remember it being a bit bluish (at least when looking at the lights.. I don't remember how was it when driving). You think this new next gen will be less blue then the old one I had? (I like little blue and not sure which bulbs to take.. this time it's D3S fore a bit newer car)

@@AlphaScorpii1986 Its more on the whiter side than the old CBI. The OP is forgetting that this is a brand new bulb out of the box and has not had the 8-10hr burn in time for the salts to settle, it will appear much more white. Bulbfacts has recorded the color temp after burn-in and its around 5300K, the old CBI's were 5000K. OEM LED headlights are 5700K according to my own color temp testing results.

With my new CBI next gen bulbs getting burned in, the light intensity and whiteness have increased significantly. It is a crisp, bright white light with a wide uniform field of illumination. I think I made a good choice in going with these bulbs.

Thanks for the interesting and informative test. I just got the OSRAM CBN to replace the 5 year old OEM lights on my 370Z that were starting to get dimmer with age. OSRAM has seemed to have really engineered the optics well on their bulbs, with nice crisp beam patterns.

Unfortunately, the crucial thing is missing, namely the measurement of the light color. that would be an interesting test with these burners. Best regards
@Retrofitlab
@Retrofitlab 3 жыл бұрын
For most of our customers, the crucial thing is the light output. Of course, the color is important, but besides the K rating, we also notice that the perception is very subjective and changes through time. Generally speaking where customers in the past said that the 5000/5500k was white. But because of the light getting whiter with LED for example, a lot of customers find 5500k still not white, but are more leaning towards 6000/6500k, which in the past was more perceived as a white with blue and now more as a pure white. And besides this, it also differs per person what they perceive as yellow/warm white/pure white/white with blue. So haveing the K rating as the theoretical value for the color to indicate it is yellow/white/blue, is very handy. But to have it on the 100k accurate is just not usefull. Generally speaking - Osram XNL - 4500k - white with a bit of yellow (for some people more warm white). Osram CBN - up to 6200k - will usually result in pure white, around 5700k. Osram CBB - up to 7000k - will usually result in white with a tiny bit of blue, around 6500k.

Thanks for the answer. I think the brightness and the light color are interesting for many. The rest opts for a cheap standard burner if they can change it. I am currently driving the Cool blue Advance in D1S and I am very satisfied. The CBA are tuned a little cooler than the CBB, but this only becomes clear after the burn-in time of approx. 20-30 hours. I know that these burners are not intended for the European market, but the CBB are only off-road so why not. Unfortunately, there are only a few tests that include the CBA burner. wouldn't that be an alternative?
@Retrofitlab
@Retrofitlab 3 жыл бұрын
@@th20118 Ah yes, like you mention, the CBA are not sold here so can't say anything about the output. But based on the info about the K rating of the CBA, I think the CBA and CBN will be quite the same. Maybe you can see a difference when you would have a direct comparison with 1 in the left and 1 in the right headlight, with the same burn-in time like you mention etc. But practically I would not expect to see much difference in real life. Maybe in the future, we will make a comparison with the CBB to show the difference in color.
@th20118
@th20118 3 жыл бұрын
I had thought that too and hoped that the light color of the CBN would be similar to the CBA. But my own comparison measurements have shown that the CBA is clearly at 6500k -6600k. The CBB under the same conditions at 6200k and the CBN at just under 5500k. All burners after 20-30 hours of operation. I did not test the CBI and XNL as they are of no personal interest to me. I always find the comparison with two different burners in the respective headlights unfavorable, at least to decide on the optics. no matter how white one burner is, as soon as the other burner on the other side has a higher k number, the other one only looks more yellow.

Nice video. Good job and very informative. I just bought the D3S CBBs and they were installed yesterday so no experience with them yet. But got the bulbs for less than half of what the Jeep dealer was going to charge me for far inferior bulbs. Took vehicle to my nearby car garage for install and again it was less than half the labor the car dealer service dept wanted.

Are you testing D1/D2 or D3/D4? Not only they use different voltage (that can theoretically impact performance), but also D3/D4 are newer eco-friendly bulbs without mercury that can affect color temperature as well. A lot of people are saying that CBNs are not really 6200K
@Retrofitlab

In the test we are using D1/D2 bulbs. CBN indeed are not 6200K, they are around 4300K like OEM xenon. Or are you referring to CBB?

Ah yes, always annoying when something like that happens...but in this case, we think you won't have to throw them away immediately :-). The XNL replaced the night breaker unlimited a few years ago and it also was an upgrade. So it's not as 'old' as the CBI. Although we can't guarantee anything because we don't work at Osram, we don't expect they have a new version around the corner for the XNL HID versions.

Hi, I'm subscribed to your channel and I really admire your work. I live in Brazil in the City of São Paulo. I already opened the headlights, seeing your video, I made an oven (cardboard box) and managed to open it. It remains to be seen how I make the electrical connection, if you need to buy another harness, what it would be and how the connection is made. could you help me step by step? From the electrical part, how to connect the Bi Led Projector (with internal chips) to the H4 socket to function properly, high and low? I looked in some of your videos and I couldn't find it. I bought the new CBI next gens last month in the D2S form and I can tell you they were nowhere near yellow/white. In the 20 to 30 hours of time I have been using them, they have gotten significantly brighter and whiter. They are a crisp white that is on the verge of having a slight blue tint.

CBI Next Gen is good in the rain low light conditions?
@Retrofitlab
@Retrofitlab 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but for those conditions, the best option is the XNL Night breaker laser line. The XNL line has a more 'warm white' 4300k color temperature, which is better in bad weather conditions. retrofitlab.com/collections/bulbs

Hi, choosing between new cbi and cbb, Which one will give more light and which one will be more suitable for led lighting in terms of white ?
@Retrofitlab
@Retrofitlab Жыл бұрын
We have not done a side-by-side test on the new CBI or the CBB. Normally the CBN will have a bit more output. In terms of color, it will be a hard one, it is a bit subjective, some people find the CBN pure white, and others will prefer the CBB for pure white.

These are really expensive at the mo with hardly anywhere stocking them. What price are they expected to level out at? (D1S)
@Retrofitlab
@Retrofitlab 2 жыл бұрын
We stock them and also Lightwerkz.net in the US for example. Osram has increased the prices quite a lot and we don't expect to see any lowering of the purchase prices. So there won't be any/much lowering of the price to be expected soon based on the purchase price. But when the older CBI is sold out/replaced, sales increase for the CBN and availability goes up the prices will probably drop a bit.
