Useful demo. For light/subtle coverage over watercolor (which is how is use soft pastels) Pan Pastels are great. Thanks!

I have done a lot of pastel over watercolor. They all work, in my opinion…softer, to me, are the most pleasurable/enjoyable to use, and “scumble” the best. It’s just a matter of your preference.
