Great video, Zoe. I lived in McKee Hall in West when I was in undergrad, and I loved Pollock too. Even though it's not renovated, they are next as soon as all the buildings in East are done. Like you said, you are mostly there to sleep and shower lol. It has the best food choices, is right next to the HUB and classroom buildings. West and Pollock def first choices...I love that they both have the traditional quad type look even if the buildings look different.

I'll give my two cents while I'm here. East: I lived in renovated east this past year and it was pretty good. Food was fine. Short walk to the Stadium, BJC, Pegloo, IM, and the Creamery. It is a little bit of a hike to most classes though, especially for 8ams. However, the Blue, White, and Red bus loops all stop there so you can take those if you don't want to walk. Pollock: None of it is renovated so take it as you will. The Pollock commons is the best imo with more food options and a larger market than other housing areas. Closer to classes than East and a short walk from the Hub, the White building and downtown. South: I'll be living in renovated south this year. Redifer commons is the only commons that I haven't eaten at so far so I can't comment on that. It's right by Pollock so it's close to the Hub and the White building, and practically on College Ave, but it is probably the most remote housing, after East, from the majority of campus. North: Definitely the smallest housing area of them all, the dining area has a nice view overlooking the Arboretum. A lot of Band members live there, or so I've heard. Had a friend in Blue Band who lived there at least. Most centrally located on campus so it's not too bad of a walk wherever you're going. Close to the Arboretum, Buisiness Building, and the Creamery. West: Closest to most classes, I thought the food was just meh, even though I ate there the most after east, the dining hall does get pretty crowded. The cookies there are literally goated though. It's a long walk to most sports, with the exception of Volleyball and Wrestling at Rec hall, but the bus is generally available for non football events. It's close to the library, Westgate, Hepper fitness center and rec hall. Overall, it doesn't really matter where you live, each place has it's pros and cons, and will be what you make of it. Great video by the way!

Once Pollock becomes totally renovated, it will be the most desirable place to live on campus

can you eat at all of the dining places even if you don’t have a friend there/live there or no?

I am almost 22 years old and I am a veteran, and just got accepted to University Park for fall 2024, so I am very perplexed about what to put for preferences. Like everyone else, I do definitely want something renovated. But me being older, yet a freshman, puts me in an odd position.

As an alum and parent of an incoming freshman, I couldn’t agree more! I didn’t know how spoiled I was in Hamilton til I went to a room in East. Like caged rats out there. My son put West first but got Pollock Beaver which he’s fine with. Thanks for doing these Zoe, I’ve watched all your dorm videos and they’ve really helped!

As an incoming freshmen, do you recommend North halls or south renovated? I personally found suites appealing because of their private bathrooms haha

It honestly depends on where you want to be located on campus! North is definitely smaller and quiet and south is next to downtown and centrally located!
