In Western Tropical, the Neo Platonic lineage, or Psychological, the Sun symbolises the teleology, so it has to be the most important. Although the Moon can be the most crucial, or pivotal, day to day. Your model is clearly a, radical, alternative to this.

I would say the moon has more psychological prominence than the sun. the sun projects, but the moon is what takes everything in and tells us what we are comfortable and uncomfortable with. The moon goes very deep into us. I see Vic's angle as more comprehensive. he is talking about the strength or capacity of all planets and measuring them against each other to see which ones are having the most strongest effect, which by their merit is showing what is the most "important" planets for that native when looking at their chart. we can all see the sun as the king of our solar system. we understand the importance because it gives life and light, but no king is king without subjects. a king cannot rule if his laws are not obeyed. To rule, a king must be strong. All kings are not strong, confident or positive and that is also the case with Suns in astrological charts. Astrology like life is not black and white. all the different colors intermingle and make great unique paintings

The Psychological-Humanistic model, which sees the Sun as the symbol of Individuation or Self Actualisation (Liz Greene perhaps the most significant theorist here, others who adopt a more Platonic lens Rick Tarnas, Rob Hand ) sees the other planets as working towards meeting the Sun's goals or teleology. The Moon (the human body) does this by keeping the person alive, thus if you ignore the Moon or the Moon is in ''poor shape'' it can become the primary planet for a period of time. Maslow's tree a good way of thinking about this perspective, to reach levels 3, 4, 5 you have to look after 1, 2 - the Lunar Needs. However, on your death bed a life or chart is judged by how well you actualised your Sun, or were able to within the limitations of circumstances. You could be killed at any stage, get a nasty bacteria infection and so on. Irrespective to your actions! In brief, in a consultation the Astrologer is seeking to use all these other tools, sub-personalites, planets- maximise their strengths, minimise their weaknesses - to enable someone to improve their Sun's performance. If they enter the session a 5/10 Aries, help them get to a 6/10 in a few months. If you follow. For example, an Aries needs to move, be assertive, courageous, initiate, etc if a person has a problematic Mars, these more positive Arian goals may be scuppered. So here the focus in the session is to improve the functions, or abilities, of Mars in the chart. You may end up only speaking about this planet for an hour or three! Or I would. Obviously this account is short, and clumsy. It may be Vic's approach has similar goals and understandings, more common ground than someone reading this might imagine? Although I don't know about his training , background, or has he had any psycho-dynamic training? Which you need, and a lot of, to operationalise this Psychological- Neo Platonic conception.

Interesting. I've heard from a western point of view that the sun is representative of want you want but the moon is representative of what you need. in eastern view the moon is the mind, the embodied soul, memories of all lives (akashic records), the bridge to the body. In Vic's other video he has Venus as the body as it gives us the interactions with the senses. I liked his model of that. The ascendant is the life focus or purpose or main goals and the sun shows the manner of how we would achieve those goals. many charts are used but the most popular ones are the ascendant chart, the moon chart and the Venus chart (9th divisional chart). I'm not aware of a solar chart for individuals although I do not know vedic astrology deeply. All Aries do not have the same goals, there are many facets to every sign. Aries is ruled by Mars which symbolizes energy, but there are many forms of energy including potential energy which is not moving. In African culture there are many names for one planet/God based on the different functions it carries out. You honor each name, each state of that entity. these astrologies have a holistic and comprehensive approach. I do like psychology but the western world does not fully understand the mind and the spiritual world because its science focuses on the things we can see and prove.

also I wanted to add I think in this kind of astrology when they say important or prominent they're talking about the planet that is being shown as the strongest and most active. the planets that are actually actualizing effects. so I think when he goes to read a chart he looks to see which planets are running the show with least restrictions. then from there you get an idea of the person you're dealing with or what that person is actually dealing with. and that changes fundamentally with time and events. Also the birth chart just shows the foundation the person was born with. they may have Sun in Aries in the birth chart but it can be in a different sign in the Life Path Chart (9th Divisional Chart) which becomes active in our adulthood or when we marry from what I've heard. Or around 25-35 years of age. And not to even mention Nakshatras and house Lords and aspects lol. this astrology is very comprehensive. I don't think I would go to a psychological astrologer but I wouldn't mind a therapist that understood astrology... if that makes sense. Nonetheless the things you mentioned I do find delight in hearing and am appreciative of this friendly discussion with you :)

So many approaches, or conceptions, in Astrology-Horoscopy now. You can see 10 different Astrologers and wonder if you are 10 alternative people! As we see with such fundamentally different meanings you ascribe to the Sun/Moon to me. With Psychological Astrology models of the mind used, or ideas, are not those found in academia that often. So not seen, proved or measured hypotheses. Major influence are Assagioli, Hillman, Freud, Jung, Klein. I'm not that familiar with Vedic Ideas. I've not pursued them in much depth as my Sidereal Signs do not resonate with me, whereas the Tropical ones do strongly. Which generated my interest a few decades ago now. Also on the few occasions I've seen Vedic Astrologers attempt to interpret 'blind' charts they have struggled to capture the person whose life it is, both in respect to events and personality/psyche.

From what i remember, when you have the only "one" element assigned to a planet... that is the singleton where all the persons energies funnel through. Hope i explained that correctly. For instance i have a couple fire elements, a steluim in a water element, a coupe earth BUT only one Air so the Air in Aquarius - My moon is in Aquarius so my moon is the singleton. I'm sorry Vic i am not as professional as you but that is good because i am looking for someone better than me - will need a reading sometime.
