I ran a half marathon in Mizuno's years ago and every time I try a different shoe I always end up coming back to them. The guy at the store was selling me on Hoka's and I was looking for a comparison between Hoka and Mizuno and this is exactly what I needed. Thanks for this!

I absolutely concur with not buying online. I visited a running shop and about 10 pairs of shoes just did not fit well. Then one finally did. Also size varies between brands and even between models or generations of the same brand/model. No way you can find your way online. Also buy the shoe in the brick and mortar store to support their business - after all, you'd be lost without them! Only if you know the shoe already and re-buy, you can consider taking the risk of doing an online purchase of course.

I have have loved Brooks Ghost and Mizuno Wave Rider. I’m here to learn about Hoka experience. Doesn’t sound like a plus for my wide feet either. They almost had me with the promise of cushion.

Brooks is my choice and the only shoes I buy for comfort & support! Brooks Ghost & Brooks Ariel in my opinion is the best. They have a lot of cushioning and arch support. With Brooks, you must go a 1/2 size up from your normal size. Hoka's are okay, but my feet get tired in them and starts to ache. Mizuno is for me is definitely a "no go". I have normal feet (not too narrow & not wide at all), Mizuno is tight fitting, therefore I can't wear them.

What size in the Mizunos did you finally get?

I wish there were a Mizuno Inspire with a 5-8 instead of 12 mm drop.
