Hi Andy! Thank you for the great explanation. I'm starting my journey in the world of Kendo and with great enthusiasm I have been saving to acquire my start up set but it is already sold out. I hope it come back soon. Greetings from Mexico. Cheers!

Hi Andy and Kendostar, and thanks for everything you do for all of us non japanese speaking Kendokas out here. just one issue, and that is regarding the shinais you sell. there seam to be some kind of glue on the tsuka. this makes it sometimes just impossible to take the shinai appart. the ribbons in the handle also seam to be slightly glued together. i have never seen this on any other shinais before, and i have gone through a couple (started in 1993). i actually cracked a peace of a tsuka today when trying to separate them to change a ribbon. that has never happened before.

Hi Peter, I appreciate that my experience might not be especially useful to you, but my club typically bulk-purchase shinai which have this glue in the tsuka. We just pry apart the slats by widening the gap progressively using two awls and that seems to work reasonably well - we've never encountered any significant cracks as a result, though there is the occasional splinter created. Personally I've never had a shinai which didn't have this, though I have no doubts they exist! Hope this helps.
