I'll have to give the sovereign another fair shot. I had a pretty bad first impression of it when I fired at someone right next to me and got 27 damage. It does look fairly good on paper so I'll play around with it more

For me in zero builds the shotgun raking is this: Pump < Gatekeeper without magazine upgrade < Sovereing shotgun < gatekeeper with magazine upgrade 3 shots are a very few magazine, but 5 shots is really good with the gatekeeper, for me gatekeepeer should have 4 shots but don't have magazine updrade (maybe not either reload upgrade).

I think I like the striker burst ar most at this point but they are all good I think it will probably just come down to preference

Today I tried using both the AR burst and Striker AR(along with the gatekeeper, heals and jet pack). I really like the burst for longer range, but against the shield it just doesn’t do it for me. If they throw the shield, having the striker to try out dps them while the shield is coming back, or just to break their guard if they are just guarding. Then can either switch to burst or shotty to finish depending on the distance and if you empty the striker AR mag. I prefer striker AR red dot when I get to a bunker, but early game I’d take a combat AR with a good sight over a striker with none. Still struggle with the shield, but it’s been the best solution for me so far.

I agree the striker burst is my choice. The regular striker still has a decent amount of recoil, which you can counteract by pulling down on the stick, but the striker burst seems to have very little recoil, so why bother with the striker. It also pairs better with the jetpack, so you can shoot a burst, dodge with the sprint thing, shoot another burst, etc. For me it just fits the current state of the game better since everyone wants a jet pack.

I like the combat ar because its the one with the biggest clip and it doesnt suffer as much bloom in ads compared to the other two ar, if you are someone who doesnt use/like scopes i can reccomend it.

I do think it's worth mentioning that the quality of reliable spray weapons went down with the thunder burst SMG which I think drastically nerfs the hammer pump and kind of nerfs the gatekeeper

The sovereign is growing on me a lot. Most of the time I will take a sovereign outside of a gatekeeper with the drum mag because I feel like it’s just more consistent. The gatekeeper is still great tho, I just feel the potential of the sovereign with the dashes is very high.

For my assault rifles I use: sniper scope, speed mag, angled foregrip, and muzzle break. For gatekeepers: no scope, drum mag, angled fore grip, muzzle break.

I think the sovereign for floor loot and chests is better, because you usually don't find a gatekeeper with drum mag. I think the sovereign has high potential tho. I'm experimenting with it to see if i want to use it as my main one. The issue is I don't have my console and so if i want to play it's either switch or cloud gaming 😭

W video Jake. I’m a hardcore gatekeeper fan but have been using the sovereign effectively too so I don’t think there’s much in it. It probably comes down to rarity more than anything whereas last season I’d take a grey Gatekeeper over anything else of any rarity.

I'm still in the hyper-fast combat mindset of last season, and I've gotten a lot better at sprint/slide/jump run and gunning in CQB fights, so I'm still partial to the gatekeeper. That might change over time, but so far I'm not convinced. My friends who play are like "Why don't you like the new shotgun? It's so good!" But when I look at their replays, they're always fighting standing still aiming in CQB fights, while I'm always moving and hip firing. I would use a Sovereign shotgun if I'm shooting out of a car or from a jetpack or if pinned down in a portabunker taking shots at someone flying around in a jetpack, but for on-foot CQB battles gatekeeper is king imo.

I don't know if I'm tripping but... It seems if you shoot an ads shot with the sovereign shotgun then you switch to another weapon and switch back to the sovereign while prefiring hipfire shoots is faster than shooting while adsing and releasing the ads button to start hipfiring 🤔

Okay so yeah gatekeeper is stronger but I think with how strong the new shotgun is and how much ammo it holds per mag tube, the 3 bullets really really hurt the gate keeper this season. Like several times ive been holding the gate keeper and had been un able to get it reloaded before I'm getting re engaged because of how crazy the marvel items are, the sovereign shotgun I can actually continue to press people with and honestly if you combine it with caps shield and war machine jet pack, unstoppable. Fly above, throw the shield twice and drop on them in their face with the new shotty and they are finished. I got a 12 kill win earlier today and I think about 10 of them were gotten using that strategy. ( I'm not excited for somebody to use it against me lmao )

Just like the combat shotgun, I prefer the sovereign over the gatekeeper simply because it holds more rounds. Of course, rarity means a lot too.

What tends to work for me is a combo of hitting the player with a car then quickly spraying them with a dual micro SMG (among other ARs and SMGs if it hasn't broken through yet).

Try the burst for better range damage and consistency, Striker AR can function like an SMG up close, but I recommend 3 guns this season (personally), Burst/Striker, Gatekeeper, SMGs, mobility + heals

Bro sorry to tell you but shield is the current shotgun meta. If you just combine it whit a jetpack you are unstoppable unless you are stupid enough to miss with it then it's goodbye. I hate this meta to but if you want to get to unreal with out skill play shield jetpack the Aug for long-range and then double splashes that's it

GGs! Good analysis. I didn't know that the damage numbers were actually higher for the sovereign. I am getting used to the new mechanics on that gun, but I like it. I think it was a good addition to the game. And I, too, am looking at rarity. I usually take a sovereign because they are plentiful, but when I find a purple or gold gatekeeper, I usually pick that up unless I have mythic or gold sovereign.

In zero build, the gatekeeper is the only shotgun I find to be viable; I don't like the other two. In builds, I like the gatekeeper and the hammer pump. (More on the hammer pump) The sovereign is not good at all, in my opinion.
