Which transmission should I choose?

Thank you , exactly what I wanted to know. I have a clutch, upgrading and found great deal on a Kubota but the Hot is like my JD lawnmower. Don't know if I like that to tweak exactly where I need to get with bucket etc,landscaoing or ,,,,,not free coasting like clutch.

Thanks for this video! I've been doing research the last couple of weeks, and it's been difficult getting good info on the different transmissions. It seems Kubota has many variations on the gear drives. I just realized that the L3301/L3901 have a different one than the L2501, so I wanted to ask if you could explain whether the "synchronized shuttle" on those two works like the one you talked about in the video. Thanks!

The L2501, L3301 and L2901 all have transmissions that are particular to that model. To fully explain the difference would take more space than we have in a KZbin reply, but feel free to call our dealership at [phone] and ask for one of our salesmen and we'd be happy to explain!

Very good job of talking, but bad that you couldn't show us a close up of what you were talking about, or to give a live demonstration of each type of transmission. A picture is worth a thousand words, and filming it is worth even more!

Even with the shuttle shift you have to get it in the right gear for the work you are doing.. With the hydro you have less to worry about - usually either low or medium will get the job done.

What would be the closest Kubota to a Ford 8n or 9n? Would it be the L2501? The Ford was only a 26 or 28 horsepower engine if I recall. So the L series would be the closest in size correct? If I ever get into bush hogging fields, I think a gear drive L-series would be a good match.

It is difficult to compare a tractor that is 70+ years old to the newer more modern tractors. The old 8Ns were geared and designed to be powerful pull tractors even at a low HP. Technically a L4701 2WD would be the closest in size/power even though it is a higher HP engine. A L3901DT would also be close in power just slightly smaller. Good question though as a lot of people are familiar with the 8Ns!

These Kubota tractors went up 10,000 in the last year priced me right out. I wanted a m6060 but haven't found one in Mi for the last 2 years

I had a 2501 manual trans ! Great tractor but I did a lot more back and forth driving than I thought I would ….loading and unloading in tight spots with the loader…I had to ride the clutch more than I liked to so I traded it in after 6 years of use on a new 3902! Works much better for my needs!

So on the shuttle shift, if say I’m in 3 high forward, I come to a stop, put the level to reverse, what gear am I in going backwards? 3 high still?

Correct! Your range and gear will stay the same, you'll simply change between forward and reverse.
