2 questions: #1 which I think all need to know, I saw people in youtube opening a wifi 6 AP, but the packages did not have access points in them, hmmm. I am purchasing 2 of the Long Range wifi 6 so the wifi 6 can use the same POE as the prior version of Ubiquiti AP's or which POE do I need to purchase for the Long Range wifi 6? 2. Can I operate the WIFI 6 APs along with the older original Ubiquiti APs on the same network? I do still have dead spots, a couple wifi 6's should fix that issue, but as I have a 5200 sq ft spread out in diff directions building, need to make sure the 6's won't interrupt the wifi 5's older design Ubiqiti AP's I have in place.

Would a ceiling mounted, wired AP (that isn't mounted) that is being used with a Mesh AP perform better if the wired AP is angled more perpendicular to where the Mesh AP is due to the antenna array, rather than the face of the wired AP pointing toward the Mesh AP?
@UbiquitiInc3 жыл бұрын
Yes, recommended placement for the ceiling APs would be perpendicular to the Mesh AP. Each deployment is different, so if you are u able to mount it as recommended, you still may be able to establish a strong wireless uplink (Mesh) with your non-hardwired AP. Check out a deeper dive on the radial patterns of APs here > help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005212927-UniFi-UAP-Antenna-Radiation-Patterns

Those microwave antennas are not APs as you can't connect to them with any WiFi devices. They are used to bridge your network together in a line-of-sight fashion when distance is a problem, and they have nothing to do in this video about APs.

Do they work with DHCP?
@mpjvending3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Most devices on the market today will work with DHCP to obtain an IP address themselves and to hand out IPs to clients. They do not have built in DHCP server if that’s what you are asking.

My Ubiquiti AP-LR started blinking last week. I went to look at the configs and status, and the page said no config available, EOL. I didn't realize that ALSO meant the AP would no longer work! To make matters worse, suggested replacements on their product page show SOLD OUT. This seems like a fantastic technical company with great products and interfaces, but terrible customer policies. I can see why they're great for Ubiquiti since now I have to buy a new AP, but from the customer perspective not so wonderful... Definitely shopping alternatives now...
@xvisor2 жыл бұрын
This is incorrect. An Unifi AP which is no longer supported by the never software versions, will continue to be fully managable with a version that does support, if you really need to use newer software versions the AP still continues to work as usual be can't be provisioned anymore, so changes won't be taken on. But the device won't stop working on it's own when it goes EOL. So i'd suggest you downgrade your controller to the last version matching your AP. Problem solved!
@ghanus20092 жыл бұрын
The distributions issues are global and post pandemic related. This has little to do with Ubiquity's "customer perspectives". Believe me they are doing better than Cisco. Whereas on the UI site, you may see "SOLD OUT" but if you buy Cisco Meraki, they will sell you the product take the money, and 6-10 months you may receive your product if youre lucky. Oh they don't give refunds either. So if you want to complain, bark up the Cisco tree. On Ubiquiy, check other retailers for their products. When they do get in stock, resellers with lots of cash willl buy up their goodies and resel to you. Still a good price though.
