@@maudalmusicalmachines3541 The fact that drawing against the US is seen as such a bad result for England but USians go on about like it's their greatest ever achievement (in the same tournament that we scored 13 or 14 goals in and you scored 2 I think) shows exactly how big the gulf in class is between the two teams. 😉 Comparing Adams to Bellingham? @@isaachenry5692 They set up not to lose yes because it meant we were through, we would have needed to lose to Wales by more than four goals. That's what happens when you win your first game by four goals, that's why the formation changed to 4-3-3 with Belingham and Henderson playing as 8s after that. The fact that a draw is seen as such a failure for England but is so celebrated by US fans shows exactly how huge the difference in levels between the two sides really is.

I think Tyler has played enough games as a CDM in the EPL to show that he can hang and be physical enough to deal with some of the best players in the league. To say that he can do that only in Concacaf is disingenuous and actually a bit put off-ish.

Tyler Adams knows who he is. He is perfect for a team like Bournemouth or Leeds, where the team isn't expecting to be in possession in most games and who get opportunities through turnovers and counter-attacks. He'd also be a good option off the bench for a better team that may want to have a destroyer to shut down opposing offenses after taking a lead late in the match. That's his ceiling. He's never going to be a starter on a top tier team that expects to control possession.

@@user-yf4ys2np9u I've proably been watching football since before you were born and being told by an USian that I lack football knowledge is surreal and hilarious! Southgate's biggest criticism is that he sets up too defensively, he played Bellingham as a holding midfielder alongside Rice and the team sat deep. He did exactly the same thing against Iran but they really went for the win and left themselves wide open so we started playing attacking football, that's why we conceded two against Iran and scored six. The US never left themselves that open because they didn't want to get humiliated so England just sat in their shape and took the draw to go through.
