Love this - thank you for your content. I was a 24.6 handicap at the beginning of this year - with some of your tips I am now down to 18.4

This is great information that a lot of weekenders sleep on. Your long sticks don’t score (typically). Wanna get those scores down, that 130 and closer is where you change your game. Thanks for the vid

Thank you Matt. Best explanation of how to choose your wedges I’ve watched on KZbin. Thank you as I’ll looking at upgrading mine. 👍😎🇦🇺

Nice... I'm carrying just a 52 and 58° wedges. My PW being 47° the gapping is quite good, like 148 yards for the PW, 125 yards for the 52 and 107 yards for the 58... The 52 is a F grind 10° bounce, still versatile enough for all the "half pitches" between 125 and 30 yards, the 58 I barely use in full shots (only for tight pins on super hard greens to get the one hop forward, stop and zipp back a few yards) but it is a great weapon in bunker and on chips of all sorts. However, I seen a huge number of players who haven't paid attention to these things and just grab a "gap wedge" (50° usually, regardless of their PW loft), and a "sand wedge" (56°) plus sometimes a "lobber" (60, or sometimes 62°) which they don't control well (pops up on them on full shots, and they thin/blade 50% of their chips with it). Then, the same players often carry a 4 hybrid, a 3 hybrid and a 3 wood and all go about the same distance! Getting to watch this video should be mandatory, not only before buying wedges but also before buying woods and hybrids!!!! Well done, Matt:!:

Really liked this video. It's backed up my choices. I can't afford the Fittings right now but I've put a lot of time and thought in and I love my wedges! Thanks Matt and keep up these amazing videos. Watched for the last year and I'm a big fan

Thank you Matt for the video. I did a wedge fitting with James as well. Great experience and knowledge I gained on my own game helped me play better around greens. Would recommend a wedge fitting to anyone.

As of this year, i have 5 wedges in my bag lol. My P-wedge is 44’, gap-w 48, 52’, 56’ and a lovley 62’. Use them all in a round.

When I put ZX7s in the bag I found the same issue with gapping ... funny enough I now have the exact same wedge/grind set-up in the SM8s as you do in the SM9s ... much more confident in my wedge play now.

Interesting vlog Matt. My current PW is 44deg - previous one was, if I recall correctly, 49deg. I have a 50deg gap wedge and a 56 SW and am well happy with just these 3. Cheers

Matt did you go with the same shafts and flex in your wedges as in your irons?

Absolutely terrific video! Thanks for letting us into the insight of your personal fitting! Any reason why the Vokey of another brand? Do you prefer the cast wedge over the forged wedge?

My pitching wedge and gap wedge are both part of my iron set, 45° and 50° respectively, then I've got an SM9 56-10 S grind bent to 55 and an SM9 60-8 M grind

Hey Matt, excellent content. I buy used clubs from different companies. It’s difficult to get the right shafts during that process. I just went back to the wedge flex and the distances are perfect. I’m not able to go buy new and go get fit. I’m aware of the loft gapping and there close. I have a 50,54,and a 58 to go with my 718 AP2s. With the course I play I’m changing the 58 for my 60, all Cleveland wedges

Nice video, but have to laugh a bit when you mention distances. You are likely hitting your various clubs a lot further than most of us here. My PW is my 100 yard club for example. I was gifted the Costco wedge set. Blends perfectly with the rest of my clubs. My PW is 48 degrees, and the Costco set has wedges at 52,56, and 60 degrees. I could never hit a 60 degree wedge but with this set and some confidence from your and Rick Shiels videos I have found my 60 degree to be invaluable. Played 9 yesterday and it saved me at least 2 strokes.

Yeah I'm gonna have to rethink my wedges. Just got an iron fitting last week. The PW of the new set is 2-4 degrees less than my old one. I have all my wedges 5° difference. Old PW = 45°, then I have 50, 55 and 60. With the new set, I'm also getting an A wedge , but it's going to be 48° I think. So I'm gonna have to rethink what I do with the last 2.

I only play pw & 56* sw, too many clubs confuse me i keep it simple i can play all my shots with these 2 clubs plus i use my 8 iron for bump & runs. Specific distances don’t interest me i play by feel, i grew up with only pw,sw you never had specialist wedges sets were 3-sw and no technology to check distances. Probably should use more wedges and know my distances but i don’t do too bad. Gr8 vid as always matt👍

Ain’t that the truth, only had a 56/57 degree sand wedge after the pitching wedge. Didn’t get a gap wedge for the longest time. I have a 52 degree wedge now that I love and a 56 degree sand wedge, good enough for me. I like being a little creative myself so 1/2 or 3/4 shots are fun, especially when you visualize the shot and pull it off. Trying to dial in the top end of the bag.

I so struggle with hitting a 56 or 60 degree wedge off the fairway. Always seem to hit across it and it goes nowhere - may be I need some new ones!!

When chipping from a tight lie around the green is more bounce or less bounce more forgiving?
@daddyharry60652 жыл бұрын
When one is only trying to break 100 or the 90 barrier it is not essential to have 3 or 4 wedges in the bag. Maybe a 46* wedge for chipping/pitching and 56* for bunkers then that’s all is required until skill is sufficiently attained. 👍🏼
@kevinwood17222 жыл бұрын
If I went with a lob wedge I’d only go 58 degrees max. Currently I use a set gap wedge and 52,56 degree specialty wedges which seems to work for me and I can fill the top end of the bag, mostly with clubs I may or may not need (honey, can I buy a new hybrid? I really need it!). Someday I’ll probably get a proper wedge fitting but not anytime soon.

My PW is 46 then I have a 50F12 bounce and a 56M08 No Lob wedge. PW is 120-130yds and 50 gets out to 118yds I use the 50 for 4 distances 75 yds 100 yds 110 yds and max 118 but usually just hit a soft PW for anything 115 over. 56* max is 95 yds and it basically a feel for anything shorter use the clock method and have shots from 25 yds to 95 yds still don’t see the need to spend the extra money on a lob wedge.
