The H5 is such a smart handy recorder, but screen display placement at the top of the H5 must have been an afterthought ... as it's a pain in the gluteus maximus to access it to read. Thank goodness the screen display was moved to the bottom end and angled; it took too long for this functional redesign.

I just sold my pre 2020 H6 and kit. I'm already missing it. I might have to get an H5 now or maybe upgrade to the 32 bit F3. Great video.

Since these beasts uses AA batteries , we have some advantages as well like we can avoid leaking batteries by removing batteries when not using it for long time, And as a collector's perspective i think H5 will be best option , because it's display can last a lot longer than H6 display . And also H6 can be too much overwhelming for Beginners ,

Hello and congratulations for the excellent videos. Sorry for my English, but I use an automatic translator. Anyway, I was saying: your videos are so good that I decided to buy an H5 zoom. But I have a problem that no one discusses or takes into consideration, not even when doing tests on modular microphones for the H line Zoooms. So I ask you this: my idea is to buy an h5 zoom (which I have already ordered) and, in addition, buy the "X and Y" capsules which are better, i.e. the ones that are provided by default for the Zoom H6. Why this? Because on the tests I saw on KZbin, the capsules for the Zoom H6 seem to be significantly better, especially for dialogues. But I don't know to what extent they would be comfortable using them on the Zoom H5. For my needs I don't need an H6 zoom, it's too much, the H5 is enough for me... but there is no one who makes this comparison between the two capsules, however used on the H5 model. Could you give me some advice on this, since I saw a review on KZbin and found that the "X and Y" capsules supplied with the Zoom H6 really feel amazing. I am confused about the clipping despite setting the bit depth at 32 bit (float) on Adobe Audition. I have a zoom H6 2013 Model, and used it as an Audio Interface in Adobe Audition. I used the MSH-6 Mic to record audio of the Zoom H6 directly to Adobe Audition. The sample rate is at 44.1kHz on the monitor of the Zoom H6, couldn’t change it in USB Audio Interface mode. Bit rate was not indicated in the monitor, only the sample rate. And since the there is no bit rate, I thought I could record 32 bit when I set the audio files’ bit depth settings on audition at 32 bit (float). I thought 32 bit can record audio without clipping and that even if I played and set the input volume at Level 1 or Level 10, it would still sound the same when I post process it. Despite recording in 32 Bit Float on the Zoom H6 when it is used as an interface, does it really still clip or doesn’t capture all the sound details when I set the input volume on the MSH-6 attachment at max or at minimum? I am new to the equipment, to the recordings, and knowledge in audio recording. Please bear with me. Thanks!

The device you use can record only 24bit. I don't know what would happen if you sent a line out to a device that could record 32bits. I assume you connected it through the usb cable, if that is the case, that is not an analog signal anymore.

As a long time user of H5, I have to say I'm quite happy with it. The only complaint can be the preamp. I mean, in case of using a dynamic microphone with lower sensitivity, I found myself in need of an inline mic booster. Otherwise, the noise floor will be a bit higher than my like. For everything else, it serves my purposes perfectly.

The Zoom H6 is prone to a very annoying problem, which is that the screen starts whiting out, beginning at the corners. Zoom does not offer a replacement screen. 💩

Of all the field recorders the Zoom Waffle Banger is the best. It’s also an excellent makeshift loom.

HELP: I want to import a music backing track to lay vocals along side to be mixed later IN THE H6. There is not ONE video that explains how to do this that works. I tried even converting the backing track to the specs the H6 is recording at on my laptop on the SD as I saw in a video but when I go back to the H6 and put the SD back in the H6 I can't find the backing track to play I want to use to lay vocals. I'm not talking about overdubbing I just need the track to be able to be referenced while recording. Can anyone help me or lead me to a very specific and good english video that shows how?

I just buy Zoom H5 over H6 & H8. 'Cause I can put H5 in my pants and go anywhere. You likely need to bring a hard case or a bag to carry H6 or H8.

i was so disappointed with my zoom h6...no longer functioning in less than 1 year :( it has a power supply issue that is connected with a circuit board. unfortunately, zoom h6 has been phased-out.

man I just don't get you genius reviewers breathily reading off a piece of paper without engaging the brain. The H5 runs 15h to the H6s 20 but does it on 2 vs 4 batteries. That puts the H5 far ahead in terms of battery life.
