joshua harris if I'm not mistaken, he is the one who played the shamisen in Kubo and The Two Strings' soundtrack.

Such a beautiful instrument man sends shivers down my spine. It trully has a spirit its own.
@JonnyTravieso Жыл бұрын
I feel like the shamisen shares some of the timbre of whatever instrument was used for the bass track in the original Beatles recording. Even though you’re not following the bass line, that tonal quality has a familiarity to the original that makes the shamisen a good fit.

Fascinating... don't need Eric Clapton on his Gibson
@kameshimayama21958 жыл бұрын
except Clapton plays a fender. lol
@aquib918 жыл бұрын
except for this song, Eric Clapton used the guitar he had given to George Harrison as a gift. A Gibson Les Paul named Lucy.

May I ask, how did you learn to play shamisen? Did you have a teacher or did you learn on your own?
@kameshimayama21958 жыл бұрын
ok i've been a big fan since before i even heard about kubo, but can someone explain to me why it's called 'kubo and the two strings' when the shamisen is three stringed? please explain unless its a total spoiler
@88Zuke8 жыл бұрын
+Kenshin Tomoshima I've got the feeling that it might be a plot point since the shamisen in the trailer has all 3 strings indeed
@kameshimayama21958 жыл бұрын
+88Zuke somebody has since told me that it is a fairly widespread traditional story that two of the three strings on the tsugaru shamisen can create tones with magical properties while the third string is solely musical with no magical abilities - and the title of the film is in reference to that.

Have you seen the movie now? I think I might have a feeling why it's called "two strings" when a shamisen has three, but it does contain spoilers.
