Wonderful. Hand steering a monohull with a bit of a heal. No music to drown out the wind and sound of the waves on the hull. I was right there with you. This is why I watch cruising videos. I fast forward through all land content. Thanks for sharing.

Question for you. How do you like the Watt and Sea Generator you installed?

It's great when we're moving. We've since installed a solar panel for when we're on anchor.

Hi there, Aiden does distance education. It's like home schooling but we follow the Aus government program - they send all the materials to us, we complete & return, they provide feedback. Works pretty well. With everything else we're doing, we're glad we don't have to develop lessons ourselves. Each to their own :-)

Hi! Great videos - a quick question - is your deck real teak or synthetic? Thanks.
@Expedition_Tranquilo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Emily! Our deck is real teak, Hanse assures us it's sustainably sourced.
@emilyvallance7786 жыл бұрын
Great - thanks! Our teak deck needs replacing and we're weighing up another teak deck vs. flexiteak. Your deck looks great so we were wondering if it were real or a very good looking synt. We passed through the Messina Striats 2 years ago in the other direction with some good strong winds. We didn't have time to stop for Etna - hopefully we will at some point, it looks fantastic from your film.

True. but it would have been the most famous strait in the ancient world!

Nice video! I'm not sure if you mentioned it (I guess I missed it if you did), but Scylla (the 6-headed monster) was supposed to be on the east side of the strait (Calabria aka southern Italy). The graphic at the beginning of your video almost makes it seem like it might have been on the west side (Sicily). Wish you would have shown more evidence of the whirlpool. Maybe next time? Still a great video. Thanks! 4WIW, history likening Scylla and Charybdis to the French Revolution and the choice between anarchy and tyranny at www.bahrnoproducts.com/Extra_Supplements.htm

Well... would you really steer your boat close just for a good shot of dangerous rip-tides that could damage your boat!? I wouldn't... But maybe you would!
@billbahr3 жыл бұрын
@@nathwhit3980 Good point, but why did they even mention Charybdis in their title and graphic if they're not going to talk about it? Maybe they should have just said they're avoiding rip-tides that could damage their boat (or whatever the reason)? Would have been enough for me. Just sayin'....
@nathwhit39803 жыл бұрын
@@billbahr They did pass what used to be Charybdis! They talked about how there was an earthquake years ago that changed how big it was and everything! Starts at the 10:00 mark!
@billbahr3 жыл бұрын
@@nathwhit3980 Glad we had this conversation. The video at 10:00, with camera shooting towards the bow, seems to correctly indicate the Scylla rock shoal to the east. As well, they mention they're there at high-tide, minimizing any Charybdis whirlpool effect. Thanks.
