What worked for me are the following steps: 1. Make sure the knob is in the Normal position. Unplug and plug back the washer power cord. 2. Turn the knob left, then right 3 times, then left, and then right. Now LEDs will be blinking signifying the system is in reset calibration mode. 3. Turn the knob in any direction until only the Rinse LED is blinking. 4. Press the Start/Pause button. The recalibration reset will start. Wait until this is over, which will take about 10 minutes.

I was about to buy a new washing machine. I looked on KZbin. You did the trick. Never been calibrated in 8 yrs. I swear by whirl pool. I don’t wash clothes everyday like most ppl. But calibrated it and works fine. Going on a cruise in in 2 weeks and there was no way they deliver a new one in time. I’m so glad that this was the issue. I know I got another few yrs. I only wash 6 loads a month. Most ppl wash every day for a week all month. This worked for me. Yayyy 🎉

My problem was the water barely dibbled in, nowhere near enough to wash and then it just sat there. Or, if the washer did fill to the right level, it hung at rinse, drained and left the clothes soaking wet. Followed these instructions. The washer is working correctly now. Thanks!

Watched this like 100 times already. It worked perfectly after replacing the center hub. But then I forgot to do it again after suspension rods and the machine shut down during a load of towels. Couldn't get this sequence to work again and was going insane. Finally realized it was because my "fix" to deactivate the lid lock, came loose and the machine knew the lid was open. Funny how there's no videos that take into account the half-assed repairs I've done. Thanks for this vid.

Our 3-4 year old Whirlpool washing machine model WTW4850HW1 has been gradually shaking violently with certain loads, especially if there are only a few blankets or towels in it. We tried this re-calibration trick last night without replacing any parts and my wife said it ran better today. We will continue to see if it helps.
@Your-Self2 ай бұрын
An even load distribution is very important on these machines. Also, suspension rods wear out fairly quickly. So, it might be prudent to replace them first for balance issues. Part number W11217817
@macdaddychene2 ай бұрын
Those suspension rods aren't cheap either. I wanted to try the recalibration first before doing something like replacing the suspension rods. The washing machine has been running great when I did the recalobration from my first post until today when my wife believes she overloaded the machine with towels. She said she added more than usual to see what it would do and it did shake with a lot of noise but apparently it wasn't as bad as it used to be. She will lighten the load from now on to see if that helps with all the loads. If the machine continues to mess up, we can see about replacing the suspension rods. The machine is only about 3-4 years old.

Some washing machines can be tricked by pouring a bottle of water on top of the clothes to make them heavier. The auto-sensing will assume there are more clothes and will use more water. Try it.
@garyr7027 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, this worked although I ended up trying it twice, I screwed up the first try. Will this solve a auto sense issue? For some odd reason, my machine decided to get confused, auto sense and full wash ended up backwards. For full wash the switch had to be on auto sense, and for auto sense wash, the switch had to be on full wash position. I have zero clue how it did that, it just started doing it all a sudden.

My brand new Maytag top load HE washer is a complete lemon. when i wash bedding it makes these horrible banging noises, requires me to babysit the machine while it refills the basket TEN TIMES or more trying to "rebalance." using way more water than an old school washer. when i wash clothes they leave soil residue in the creases of the clothes. I have used this washer for over a year and every single time i try to wash a cotton blanket or cotton comforter it makes these horrible banging noises and even after repositioning the items multiples times it still fails to balance EVERY TIME. and when the machine tells me it's done the blankets are still soaking wet and smell like sweaty soiled clothes because it never gets properly agitated or spun/drained. The machine tells me it's done but the clothes smell like sweat and dead skin and are dripping wet, obvious signs of a deficient washer. can't clean and can't spin dry. so now i'm drying a soaking wet blanket for over THREE HOURS in the dryer that smells like dirty clothes because the washer told me it is "done" because it simply stops attempting to spin after multiple attempts. I cannot wait for a class action lawsuit against Maytag top loader HE washers, they are the worst in the world. I will never buy anything Maytag as long as I live and will tell everyone I talk to about how bad Maytag is. NEVER MAYTAG, THE WORST BRAND OF WASHING MACHINE EVER MADE. I cannot wait until the class action lawsuit arrives. Maytag you deserve what happens to you for selling a lemon, you complete and utter scumbags. AVOID MAYTAG AT ALL COSTS. Also their dryer is way too hot at the "low" setting, burns my clothes. worst company ever. and they don't even honor their heavily advertised warranties because MAYTAG is complete scum.

The service manual doesn't specify the shift actuator, but it's not a bad idea to calibrate anyway.

My washing machine isn't spinning all the water out of the clothes. The past two days the clothes are still wet when it says it's done. Can you offer any help with that?

It's difficult to say for sure, but the most common problem on these machines is the Shift Actuator that's located under the cabinet. You could try replacing that or call a technician.
