I love how the music is super evocative of the area that is supposed to be recreated, like cryogenic hopetown was supposed to be a quaint winter village even though they couldn't have real snow or ice, or even real log cabins, so they made music that felt like winter. Happiness research facility was supposed to be a city, but obviously they don't have enough space for an actual city so they made music that sounds like one. Then of course in eco-forest they couldn't make a real forest because they had no trees, so they made music that made you feel like you were in a jungle. It's those details of the humans compensating for the things they miss and can't have that really makes this world feel so believable.

This is such a killer observation! We know from finding literal vinyls and how each site has a speaker system that the music in Alterna is diegetic. We can infer from how different the Alterna tracks sound compared to Ceph mainstream music that the composers were probably human. This would also be in line with the fact that all splatoon music has some in-universe composer. Going off of that and the fact that all music has a purpose, why would a human in splatoon write music like this? You've provided us the answer!

This is the track that, combined with the Alterna Log, brought me to tears. Reading about the sea creatures reabsorbing the crystals with all humanity's hopes, dreams, and desires, and becoming something like people themselves... Very somber moment for me. I didn't think splatoon could deal such an emotional hit! (˘̩﹏˘̩)

I personally felt that the fact that the inklings were essentially born out of not just the aftermath of the catastrophic end of humanity, but the feelings and desires they left behind, is heart-wrenching! With this music playing over that realization, man, it hit me really hard in the moment.

Site 3 and Site 5 really feel calming and relaxing but also really lonely, forlorn and empty. The Lore up until this point is basically telling that despite humans having survived and thrived in Alterna, the newer generation of scienists as humans want and wished to go further and expand, ultimately rendering their colony extinct. Seeing the tomatos showed that even if they were isolated, they could of survived if they stayed put. Then again, I suppose after a while, being surrounded by the same fake skies eating the same food, the wonder of the outside would be too much. These are not ideas and thoughts I assumed a funny squid game with dabbing would give me.

My theory is that these tracks were made by humanity, and the evidence seems to track. You find these songs on golden discs, for one. An idea similar to Voyagers golden disc!

Aww, heck, true! (Spoilers for Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon ahead) It honestly, now that you mention it, kinda really reminds me of the Tree of Life sections from the endgame of PSMD ^^ Like, it has a similar feel to the Trunk section, and honestly kinda feels a bit like a "midway fusion" of the Roots and Trunk themes, feel-wise, in my opinion, if you know what I mean!
