@@cheeseontoast9418 I could not agree more. I havent heard Distressor yet, but Pipe Dreams definitely is overall really shitty imo, at least when it comes to the songwriting. Sway was a major improvement on that front, but Now, after FLY has come out, I think there is No question that it is Whirrs magnum opus.

Check out "So Tired" by Slowdive. Not as fuzzy and more atmospheric, but you might find it has the same mood and emotional weight that this song has.

piekielne męki normally i'm 100% ok with a band maturing its sound or just evolving in general. however in this case i feel as if they could have experimented a bit more in song structure. im not saying they need to be djent or anything ridiculous though lol. it's just that they appear to be dumb-downed. i guess that's kind of what you said so yeah. i listened to this on tumblr, which might hav spoiled it for me but i must say, this album is my favorite of thirrs..

yeah, both albums feel insanely watered down, although i think the title track to shelter is 10/10. it just sucks that like, i consider the two aforementioned albums rare gems, literally flawless..i don't expect them to be topped or anything, but this new stuff is so meh.

alcest have already done the heavy distortion gaze thing before,so i dont mind shelter. some of the guitar lines are way too catchy like the main riff in "la nuit..." Lantlos kinda came more from left field, sound definitely changed, they mustve been listen to hum and deftones haha. although i think melting sun is a great record.

I own the record, came with some nice artwork too. I definitely prefer melting sun compared to shelter. Still appreciate shelter, just not to the point of liking it too much. Really do wish they didn't abandon the shrieked vocals but It's not as big of a deal to where that would discourage me from listening to it. Also wish Kristina was still in Whirr.

there's really no need for a hook, this song sounds good this way, reminds me of "Only Shallow", you can notice that song doesn't have a hook
