Also keep in mind that most Scotch is aged in USED bourbon or sherry casks... So that's why they can age for a long time and you sometimes think they're finished when it's really the primary aging barrel.

I live within a couple miles of Cat's Eye here in Iowa. I have purchased a couple barrel picks of some of their other blends but was disappointed. There style is just not my style. I admire both of your palates and memories to pick out the type of whiskey as well as the distiller. Cheers!

Wild Turkey 101 is one of my favorites - on my list of best budget whiskies with Buffalo Trace, Compass Box's Artist Blend, and Rittenhouse Rye. And I have a bottle of Russel's Single Barrel that's really good. But my bottle of Russel's 10 I do not like at all! Gonna have a couple of whisky friends over soon to tell me what they think of it. I think it's possible I got a bad bottle somehow. Maybe one that was left in sunlight or near a heating vent or who knows what . . .
