@tgp48718 ай бұрын
Thank you, Rich, I really appreciate your kind words!! I love hanging out further up the fretboard, does get a littly clunky though with my banjo having a bit high action but it's worth it for the tone you get 😊

I love this! I'm trying to learn clawhammer but still struggling with it. Do you use your pointer finger or your middle finger for the downstrokes? I'm hoping I can get this precise soon
@tgp48719 ай бұрын
Thank you!! I personally went for pointer just because that was most natural for me. Many others feel more comfortable with their middle finger. I would say just go for whichever feels the best when you first try it out, I doubt it has any major effect on playing and sound! Just ask if you have any other questions, and good luck! :)
@kpdelaney64609 ай бұрын
@@tgp4871 thanks! I do have one more question. Does your finger ever hit the base of the banjo drum when striking on the highest string? I've been having a problem where it makes a brushing sound of my fingers brushing on the drum material and I was wondering if you ever had that when starting out
@tgp48719 ай бұрын
@@kpdelaney6460 Yeah absolutely, I would say most players when playing on the drum will have some amount of drum noise coming through. With time you'll be able to dial it in more or less depending on the sound you want, but I really would not worry about that for now! In this video I play over the scoop, hence the absence of drum sounds, but for more challenging stuff I tend to play over the drum and then you can hear quite a bit of percussive noise coming through (like in this video, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aH-Qc6Frbp2cnc0). I think it sounds kind of nice actually but I get what you mean, I had to warm up to it and didn't really like it in the beginning either :)
