NO JOKE! If he was 21 I feel like there would be a lot more buzz around him but being 23 and 3rd in goals for rookies is still a HUGE deal for being a 2nd round pick with around 11 minutes ice time. They say forwards peak at 28 so he still has a long way to go and I'm not even sure where he slots in on a competing team, he could easily be a 2nd line guy if you just doubled his time and he produced at the same amount. So many arguments that you can talk in circles about here and there's all sorts of people that will argue with you. Either way - I like this kid.

it seems that someone wanted to see my drunken comment, well then get it) HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS! So, about the game, I'll start from afar. I swear, when we beat the Panthers, I thought we were just lucky and the opponent just underestimated us. When we beat Tampa, I was scared because I didn't recognize my team (in a good way). But when we beat Vegas, that's it, gentlemen, we're officially a good team. No kidding, but if none of them gets injured and we continue to put in the same amount of effort, we'll make the playoffs, and it doesn't seem so out of reach anymore, we can. The exchange of defenders and the arrival of Patrick took us to a new level. After these three games, the other teams won't take us as a joke. We're just a little late for the playoff party, wait for us. my God, this is exactly what I want from the first line. Slaf fights for the puck and wins it, then Suzuki works, and cole finishes. The fourth line is the fucking best in the entire NHL, the second line has started to wake up. If this is my delusional dream, then don't wake me up. If I had been told in November that Montreal would win three games in a row against the Panthers, Tampa and Vegas, I would have asked, "What drugs are you on right now?"

It just feels like they’re finally GETTING IT, like they had to unlock their potential or they were stuck in a bad confidence zone. If it all changes and they go back to losing… I’ll definitely be disappointed. The thing is they did fantastic against a lot of the leagues best teams last season too… I hope this isn’t just a phase!

How long was Ottawa at it until they finally cracked it like in the past month? Just wait until we become a destination team again.

To still not understand the notion that defense wins championships? Whatever you can say about our offensive struggles over the years, we invested on the defensive side of things and it’s slowly starting to pay dividends. Now it’s not perfect but hopefully when we are ready to make the next step. We won’t be one of those teams pleading to the sky for a Good goaltender or solid top 4.

I'll be honest, my trust in Hughes and Gorton's plan was shaken a bit earlier in the season but I never truly gave up. The patience is paying back currently. Let's hope it continues on that trend and the Habs are still playing meaningful games comes spring.

Thats the hope. I'm not going to drag out the Reinbacher discouse because everything has already been said and its all just a guess until he finally has the opportunity to prove what he has in him. I have faith in Gorton, he has proven results - Hughes feels a little like a blind spot but I feel like he's a clutch pick considering his knowledge of the market and he does not seem like a pushover. I have always been a fan of MSL and between him saying that he doesn't like to lose, no matter what it is, he likes being doubted, he likes to prove people wrong and the fact that John Torterella said that he was going to make a hell of a coach - that's all I gotta hear. I like his coaching style from what I've seen, even in the rebuild he just seems like no-nonsense in the locker room but a soft smart approach when trying to inspire his talent. I dunno I was a believer right from the start and I'll only concede if it looks REALLY grim.

Happy new years everyone :) I knew that going into tonight's game, we were gonna see a perfectly clean and disciplined Golden Knights team. I wasn't disappointed. It's so satisfying... sooooo so satisfying... that despite the NHL's bias, Montreal pulled off a comeback like that.

I hope everyone had a wonderful beginning to the New Year. Our grandson went to sleep at 7 which meant we were asleep by 7:30. Sleep is good, Dach and company will always have to outscore their mistakes. If Dach continues to improve and Laine stays healthy and involved they should be able to do so. I think a key to the run is the reduction in penalty minutes. It is easier to maintain pace if you are not killing penalties 1/3 of the game. If Hughes can pull off one more trade like he did getting Carrier the Habs will be in playoff hunt. It shows not all important trades involve star players.

Absolutely agree. A lot of the penalties they take I can swallow, its the lazy highsticks that really kill me - sheesh, and Dach is responsible for at least a couple of those. It's interesting to watch them play against a team like VGK who are very disciplined - I wonder if they took any notes.

Thankfully, I can honestly say that I kept faith throughout autumn and early winter. As a bonus, last night was the first time that I've worn my red 79 Markov jersey, and the Habs have actually won the game. In regards to your question: I couldn't be happier with how they've been playing since Laine came back; strong, no quit in them, and they all seem happier. But that being said, if one player is the difference-maker between a bottom-5 team and a wildcard team, that's still not a good thing and they have some work to do.

I do feel like Laine is more of a difference maker than we even know, I'd love to see how he fits into his role in the locker room. Dude is wise beyond his years and I'm turning the corner pretty hard on his remarks about Columbus, I'm still going to reserve my opinion because I'm not a loud mouth and I don't want to pretend like I understand the whole story. Anyway - Laine is still underrated imo if he even has an inch to do with what is happening with Dach's confidence and his sudden change in pace and drive on the sheet.

I feel bad, I had some stuff I had to do today so I missed the game. I am glad about the score though. It's getting harder to keep my expectations low, the team is playing so well right now. I knew that they could be way better than they started this year, but they had some obstacles - like Laine and Reinbacher getting hurt in preseason. The team learning a new defensive system, Primeau not working out. Guys like Dach and Newhook getting off to bad starts. And, for some strange reason, they get get annihilated by Pittsburgh. Anyway, I hope they keep on rolling!

The reason for the OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ chants in florida and tampa is because so many quebecois going in florida during winter (they are called the snowbirds). So for the two games about half of the arena is actually montreal fans.

I also think they is a not insignificant group that go down there specially timed with the trip down to Florida, I think they said this on the broadcast. I also think a certain amount of Florida fans were confused by the chant and joined in. 😂

I still think they should trade Evans. $$$ Slaf + Guhle from 1,813M to 13,1M combined + Heineman, Struble, Dobes, Primeau all RFAs. Hutson, Dach and Xhekaj RFA the season after. They can't sign Evans to a long term contract and it's his long term security contract.

I know what you mean. I should do a breakdown on my thoughts about what they should do about cap space. Right now they project it to go up to… 92m next year? Sec… yeah 92.4m. So they might be able to lock Jake up for a prove it contract. I just hate the idea of moving our veteran pieces now and relying on Mailloux, Reinbacher, Struble and potentially a forward or two? Is Beck ready to replace Evans… very skeptical. I’m sure they’ll come up with some good solutions but it makes me head spin thinking about it. Pezzetta is going to be let go, Dvo… probably Dvo too? And Armia still needs a deal… oh man… 😵‍💫

With the arrival of Demidov next year , Dach might lose his spot as a top 6 winger, will either move back to C2, or a 3rd line winger, my guess Dach C2, Newhook C3, Kapanen or Beck C4. As for replacing Armia , might deal Struble in the summer for a botton 6 winger

I’ll tell you a secret, sometimes I just do these thumbnails with white text in the background because it’s fast and I think it’s eye catching - if it’s hard to read the text maybe it’s worth it for the audience to click on the video to see what’s going on regarding the subject. I don’t really love these tactics but it’s become best practice on YT and I have to try to stay current with those strategies. I’m hoping that one day I can produce less bating and more professional looking stuff but I think I have to grow the channel to a big enough number to get really strong brand recognition.

Good luck with losing weight. I have my 50th high school reunion in May and i have lost 20 pounds so far. Get a pedometer and walk 10000 steps a day, no alcohol, drink water and eat moderately. I make a smoothie every morning and have a balanced supper.
