Whisky for Fall ft. Octomore!

What whisky are we reaching for when in the fall months? Octomore 11.3 and 13.1 Review. The Whisky Rant Podcast Ep 70.
Pasta Sauce AKA Sugo:
Step 1:
Dice:
4 cloves of garlic
1 whole yellow onion
5-10 leaves of fresh basil
Step 2:
Simmer until softened in extra virgin olive oil
Step 3:
Add half a pound to a pound of beef ribs or oxtail and cook until brown on all sides.
Step 4:
Add 2 jars of Mutti or Molisana Passata Strained Tomatoes.
Add diced basil
Add half a cup of red wine
Add salt to preference (roughly two tablespoons per jar of tomatoes used is my preference)
Bring sauce to a boil and then reduce heat to allow sauce to simmer for 2-5 hours (3 plus hours is sufficient but closer to 5 for optimal taste)

I think Ralfys problem is when they say "natural colour" because it doesnt necessarily mean they didnt add colouring.

On Glenmorangie: In the IB market it is typically sold teaspooned at Westport. Tale of Winter I purchased, tried a sample and then returned the bottle. After trying Tale of Forest I was happy not to have an entire bottle of it.

that intro is where I realize how European I am: I don't care about Halloween, I don't have thanksgiving, football (which should be called American football in the first place since football already exists and is played with feet :)) baseball and hockey are sports I never watch on tv....but I agree with you, October is good for sipping whisky (or whiskey for that matter. See? whisky is the thing that brings us all together in the end :)

Seems like Australia has been discounting Octomore 13s, saw the 13.2 for $230 AUD and 13.3 for $289 AUD. I think we get to the point where importers don't even bring it in when the prices are so high for the market

I love the different expressions of Octamore, they are outstanding, no question, but I don't know how the prices can be justified anymore. I feel like I have to take a stand given the prices. Fall is here and I had a lovely dram of Ardbeg UIG last night. It was perfect for a stormy day! Cask strength heavily peated are my favourite this time of year. Correyvreckan is always lovely, Ardbeg Ten. Delicious. Lag 16 is a scotch I go back to often. It's very sentimental for me. I just started exploring Shelter Point's 10 Year Old Single Malt. It's interesting. I think Whisky On the West Coast has just reviewed this expression for Shelter Point. I also love the Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength and I have quite a bit stashed away. It's not easy to find in Vancouver. Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Heavily Peated is one of my favorites! I very much want to try the Bruichladdich Rye - so much. It sounds amazing. We will see! Summer definitely means lower ABV with the heat. I like the ABV a lot higher in the fall and winter. Terrific conversation with you and Jeremy! Earth's Own Oat Milk is my favourite oat milk for coffee. Home made sauces are so much better! Cheers! 🙂

I have a few bottles stashed, 10.2 and 12.2plus a couple of open ones. The do have something special, amazingly delicate for such young, peaty whisky. However the pricing now is pushing me to the Port Charlotte range, which is 95% of the experience for half the price or less, and a few years more mature.

I really like the Laphroaig 10 sherry oak finish or Uigeadail if im in the mood for a flavor bomb. Just a regular day, im grabbing Ledaig 10 or PC10

Love the episode boys! My go-to Peated Pour today is Laphroaig Lore or the Laphroaig 10 Sherry, depending on which one is open at the time. When Fall hits, I crave the brine, smoke, and stone-fruits the a sherry finished or aged scotch provides.

We need to see a jarred tomato sauce review lineup. there are some good jarred sauces but you pay for them and they are at places like Whole Foods and they are organic and there is no BS in them
