A to-the-point review of the Port Charlotte 10 Year Old. The Classic Laddie has come a long way, but how has time treated the heavily peated scotch from Bruichladdich?

Nice review! To me, at this moment in time, this is my absolute favourite affordable whisky from Islay, 88/100

I felt the same way with my first PC10 a few years ago. Definitely believe they’ve improved significantly. Cheers 🥃

I'm a Port Charlotte fanboy and I love PC10, but because the price is now over US$70, I'd rather spend $20 or $30 more and get a PC Islay Barley (usually still under $100, but can be hard to find), which to me offers so much more complexity and flavor. Having had a few Octomores and many of the cask explorations PCs, PC10 comes across as the "cheap one" matured in all the leftover casks used on those more expensive PCs. Because I think the more expensive PCs are worth it, I don't see myself getting more PC10s (I'd rather have a Laphroaig 10, Ardbeg 10, Ledaig 10, Kilchoman Machir Bay, for example), but for a peat fan on a budget, I think PC10 should be a staple.

The PC Islay Barley has been on my list for a while and if it wasn't for getting a bottle of the new 18, I probably would have by now.

I enjoy PC10 a lot, I think it's a peated whisky somewhere between Islay and Highlands. A very well made whisky comeing at a fair price, this is all we ask from the whiskymakers. Cheers mate 🥃

I think the quality has increased a lot with Port Charlotte 10. I do really enjoy this scotch a lot, love the barley used and I value hearing different thoughts on how people perceive this expression. Beautiful peat. I do pick up Islay notes on the peat, meaty, salty, pears, very savoury, rich, lovely maritime flavours and nicely complex! Love the mouth feel. I will look more for the orange when I have my next dram of this Port Charlotte. I do get the apples and pears. I like the balance of salty and savoury. It's a beautiful delicious pour for me! I enjoyed this video a lot! Comprehensive! Thanks so much! Oh! This is about $115 plus taxes in Canada. I am okay with that for what I get!

My experience has come a long way with this expression! Really enjoy it, and glad many others are too! Port Charlotte is definitely a line I will keep an eye on.

@@WhiskyUncorked It's a whisky I sure love! Thanks for the awesome reply! I found a couple of new Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 yo 4th releases and with the rum cask I am loving it. I am a huge Lagavulin fan. It's my favourite distillery. The 3rd release remains my favourite but this one is very nice! $119 before taxes in Vancouver and for me it's worth every penny! Cheers!

@@christinecamley I got to try the rum cask Lagavulin in Chicago while visiting family! I only had one pour but it was really nice. Definitely a bottle I wouldn't mind grabbing, although I have been drinking a lot of peated whiskies lately, so I may wait a bit. Cheers!
