The Auchentoshan does state the region and style. To the right of "THREE WOOD" label states 'a fruity lowland malt'. BTW love your videos, cheers!

The Auchentoshan does actually state it's a Lowland on the label, just in tinier print. Much love to Charlie all the same.

So how can I find out when my bottle was bottled? Can't find it on the label(Highland park 18yo).

Charlie forgot to define the word " malt " on the label. On any scotch whisky label the word means " 100% of the whisky in this bottle was distilled from malted barley using a pot still ". In other words it is telling you that there were no column stills and no other grains used.

Charlie says that the Auchentoshan bottle doesn't tell you that it's a Lowland whisky at 0:38, but pause at 0:44 and you can see that the label says "A fruity Lowland Malt, produced in Scotland since 1823..."

so single malt whiskeys are blended as well, but only with whiskeys from the same distillery? I thought it was whisky only from a single production of the same distillery, no blending at all...

You have to take into account that a distillery has to produce whiskey by the tens of thousands of bottles to meet demand. Ergo, it is impossible to put out a consistent product at that volume if everything would be single cask, since every cask will taste a bit different. Therefore, even single malts are blends from different casks, in order to produce a consistent product in large quantities. Single cask whiskies do exist however, but they are always in limited productions

How to read a whisky label . If it says under $50 its not gonna be any good . If its over $100 its overpriced . almost anything between $50 and $100 should be pretty good .
