Kilkerran is really good stuff, I have a few bottles at the moment, one 12yo, both of the 8yo on this review. That 8yo recharred "Batch 4" from 2019 is prbably one of the best whisky I've ever tasted...still got one unopened bootle to enjoy in the future. Cheers

Gone through numerous bottles of all of these bar the Bourbon cask. I like the Bourbon cask a lot but the 2023 Kilkerran 12 and the Sherry 8 are mind-blowing

Been definitely loving the darker 12 year…Total Wines in az have been discounting to $68 which is a no brainer. Bought the 8 sherry last year and was blown away…8 bourb is still on the shelves here i’ll have to dive in on that one next

I got 1 Kilkerran 2023 8 Yr bourbon, and several batch 8 heavy peat and a few of the 12s. 8 yr bourbon might be my fav, but then again that's my fav style, though sherry and wune like Port Charlotte has its place. Heavily peated and batch 8 are neck in neck, batch 8 had lime 10% sherry, but those earthy Humic notes are what I absolutely love which Amy I've had cambelltown loch included show in spades

Had those two twelves side by side a little while ago and had a look at my notes. Looks like I agree, the '22 beats it by a nudge, both excellent though.

Kilkerran is beautiful stuff. Glad to hear the my 8 Sherry is a winner. I figure that original recharred really changed to whole thing for us. Before that there was barely any respectful for a 10 year old. On the other hand and have 2 tall bottles of the 12 and with the current prices I'm not anxious to get a new one. It may be, like you said, the best everyday sipper, but reality has to play a part here. Besides, I'd rather get the latest batch of the heavily peated.

My current 12yr is dated 07.03.22 (22/35) and it's every bit as light as your '21 bottle. Your '22 version must be bottled later in the year.

Great rundown of KK 12's and 8's Rob. Kilkerran 12 is a great staple on any bar. I find it consistent year over year at least over last 3 years or so since my first bottle. I still have a 2019 bottle and picked up two of 2023 when they showed up at LCBO last year. It looks like a good call in a hindsight. I am keeping an eye out for KK16.

I got the 8y Bourbon CS 22 and found it phenomenal. The 12 y 22 is still in the cabinet so I can't compare. If not for the Hazelburn 10y 22 and the Deanston 15y organic (best) this would have bee my whisky of the year 2023. Three amazing bottles that I would try to always have available.

Surprised that you think the KK8 is easier to get than the KK12. Here in California, the 12 did not sell out in 2023. The 8 is still grab it if you see it. Thanks for the comparison.

Hard to tell, but I think my 2023 12 yr is somewhere in the middle color-wise. Haven't cracked it yet though. I see you have the Wildlife lineup there. I'm very curious about that single malt.

Great video Rob. I love the multiple review choice here. Chris Goodrum at the Good Dram Show has been doing it for years and running that kind of thing solo. Here, in 2024, I think it's the way to go. I really think it's where whisky channels have to go to keep our attention these days. A theme and a chat with us. What can I say? Things move on and whisky reviews can't be like they were in 2016 any more if they want to maintain our interest. P.S. Kilkerran are a batch thing but it's usually for an interesting ride. WT

Hey Rob. Great comparison, good to see the differences between batches! One quick question: how do you know the bottling date of Kilkerrans? I just bought a 12YO but I can't see any indication of bottling date and the barcode seems to be the same for every bottling... Thanks! Slàinte!

Have a look below the label on the back of the bottle. There’s a black laser code with a date.
