The substance used to depict blood for the shower scene in Psycho was Hershey's chocolate Syrup. The lay out and story boarding for the shot were done by Saul Bass. Mr Bass also created the AT&T logo.

If you're a fan of a "film" like The Room, you will probably like Neil Breen's movies. He has I think five movies so far, and they're not self aware. You can find full downloads of many of them on KZbin.

I did a year of film school and my screenwriting teacher had some interesting stories. One, for example, was when he was talking about good screenwriting vs. bad screenwriting. He gave us examples of good screenwriting throughout the whole class, so on the last day, he decided to show us an example of bad screenwriting. It was a short film probably from the 70s or 80s. When the opening credits started to roll it said: "Written by (my teachers name)" so we all laughed, then it said "Directed by David Cronenberg" and we all gasped. He hadn't told us that he had worked with David Cronenberg (although he did talk about hanging out with Steven Spielberg) so we were all shocked. It's also kinda cool because I don't think the film will ever be shared publicly. If I can remember correctly, it was about a woman who thought she was a cat??

Your Hitchcock story isn't 100% correct. He partly filmed on black and white to avoid gore, but he did it mainly because he had to have a small budget. The studio didn't have much faith in the film, so he had to use his TV company to keep the film cheap (under 1mil). Also, he didn't use any form of fake blood, he used chocolate syrup.

My absolute favorite quotes come from "The Blues Brothers".....Elwood : "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we gotta full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses". Jake : "Hit it !!" Second favorite quote (from "Full Metal Jacket") - Gunny Sgt. Hartman : "WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION, NUMBNUTS?!? DIDN'T MOMMY AND DADDY GIVE YOU ENOUGH ATTENTION WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?!?

What did you think of Map to the Stars, assuming you've seen it? No surprise that Hitchcock's films have the capacity to startle and surprise even modern audiences. A lot of his ideas and methodologies remain to this day, influencing contemporary writers and directors inside - and even outside - the movie industry.

I know you love reading so I would highly recommend reading Naked Lunch! The film is based on the book by William S.Burroughs (as you mentioned). It's loosely based on his experiences in Mexico and was also banned for a while due to the nature of the book. He was a part of the Beats Generation which also included Allen Ginsberg and Lucien Carr. They were trying to liberalise literature in America. Not sure if you've watched it but Kill Your Darlings but that includes a key moment of his and the Beats Generations life's. Little bit of a ramble but just wanted to give you a little information, haha. x

If you think "The Room" is the worst film ever, you've clearly never suffered through "Birdemic" and/or "Requiem For A Dream". 3:) Nice to know I'm not the only one that still insists on buying the actual DVD as opposed to merely streaming a movie on Netflix. Especially if there are BTS features on how the movie was made. Love to watch how things progressed from concept art to the clay model thingies (can't remember the term for them), early CGI models and whatever else have you. Many thanks for uploading this and all your other videos. No matter how terrible my days can be, there's nothing like relaxing to a video by you, VeniVidiVulpes, TheUKASMR or VisualSounds1. Some great films here, The Room has a special place in my heart :) If you're wanting to continue down the rabbit hole of wonderfully weird and what the hell! films then I realllllly recommend Altered States directed by Ken Russell and Possession directed by Andrej Zulawski. If you are getting into Cronenberg you should really check out his early bigger released films like "Shivers", "The Brood," and "Rabid", he really was the body horror king back in those days, "Scanners" is great also, avoid the 2nd & 3rd though lol and Dead ringers is worth a watch as well, still don't get Naked lunch myself even though i get the reference and know about william S Borroughs, His version of the Stephen King Book "Dead Zone" is one of the better adaptation around, i never find that too many of them work, anyway just suggestions
