Here's another older but perennial favorite song, "Whispering" on a Hammond B3. First verse is pretty straightforward, with a rather pronounced digital echo that is synced to the rhythm so that it adds to it, with the echo repeats returning in step with the beat. For the second chorus I play the melody on a guitar simulation on the Garage Band app on an iPad, use the Hammond as an accompaniment instrument, and also feature an inset view (via a second camera) of the bass line I am playing on the pedals. Likewise, I am resorting to a generic reverberation rather than repeat echo for the remaining portions of this piece. Last verse is the Hammond by itself, no other instrument effects other than the drum machine for the rhythm. Note also that I frequently incorporate variations in the drum machine as a real drummer would do. This eliminates the mechanical and repetitive nature of the drum units that were included in many electronic organs of several decades ago. Likewise, the stored sounds of real percussion instruments sound much more realistic than the early analog rhythm units where drums sounded "tubby" and cymbals sounding like escaping compressed air. But for nice musical sounds, the traditional Hammond is still a great musical instrument.
