I've been making a ton of test spindles lately. For whistle I've found the more taper, the longer the spindle can be without cato. Also, the larger the diameter the less chance of cato. I'm also using aluminum, it works great for testing and it's cheap. When I finally find the one I'm sticking with I make a copy in stainless. The taper also seems to change the sound. 1/2 degree is real fast and powerful but no sound until the delay. 1.5 degrees makes a ridiculous sound right from the time it lights. I'm loving your channel. I'll add a reply to this comment and link a video with the 1.5 degree spindle in a tiny 3/8" motor

@@pedrojover9792 it may work wit it but needs to be a very hot very strong bp.. These spindles are designed more for whistle fuels (way faster burning) For BP rocket spindle must be at least 4 inches long if you want a powerful rocket.

Spindle must be ( conical with angle) , a straight spindle is almost impossible to remove from rocket motor

@@长颈鹿-d7v I already answer that.... tooling cant be removed from motor after being pressed if spindle has a straight shape , now if you're able to remove it somehow, without damaging the fuel grain and without having the motor blowing up in your hands ,then motor will probably perform normally

You already have the measurements of spindle and rammer , motor is 1 pound.( . 75 of an inch) internal diameter, lenght of tube is exactly 3.5 inches

@Popsontheblock yes , Woody's manufacturers very good tooling and offers good support if you need it , if never pressed rockets before I'll suggest to start with the 4oz platform. They are decent on size and they can go very high . The extreme model allowes you to make BP rockets and whistles as well. I always suggest to start with BP rockets and after mastered continue with more sensitive fuels like whistles and strobes. A press is a must for those , keep that in mind

Some advice, you should use fast blackmatch in between your rocket motors on the nuclear and multi stage motors, it aids ignition

I did it before and it worked flawlessly, I don't think that the black match inserted on the sali motor will cause any overpressure on hot fuel I hope

@Pyroflorida What I do is I clean the top of my motor so it adheres better and use an unplugged hot glue gun to glue a row of match in, I do use a low temp one but I don't think the high temp ones even get hot enough to set anything off. I use like 5-8 strands in between along with a small amount of tissue paper in the top of the first motor to stop overpressure

Good day mate! I made a short cored spindle for my Na.Benz fe2o3. Spindle length was 1.5 inches and it produces weak thrust. Somebody told me in a forum that short core on a benny whistle must use oxychloride or a sali on fe2o3. My question is for my 1/2” rocket, how long should be the spindle or the core of the motor if im using 4inches tube. Im thinking 2.5inches plus .5inches hollow space and the rest is for the delay and bulkhead. Also, when it launches it has a popping sound at the core. My composition is 70:30:1:4. 1 red iron oxide and 4 mineral oil. Why is that happening, it is like strobing thus producing less thrust.

Sodium benzo is too weak to perform well on a 1.5 inch spindle, even with cu oxichloride may not perform as expected. Red sali or KHP will work pretty well . Typical from sodium benzo to make pops when used on a hollow core , that's normal , I have a couple of vids where that happens with benzo. For a four inch tube I'll definitely go for a 3 inch spindle , .75 delay .25 head space That will work with benzoates and salicates (wax your tubes ) when going for red iron or oxichloride sali.

Go for the same 5inches spindle and .75delay plus head room? This is good because i can use the same tube length for both whistle and bp cored motors.

@HotBPmix on a 8 oz 6 inch tube I'll probably go for a 5 inch spindle for bp rockets and a no more than 4 inches for whistle or any red line fuels , spindles for whistles are bigger in diameter when compared with bp spindles, I other words.. if you press whistle on a BP type 5 inch long spindle it will CATO all the time , unless you use HP140 -4-c That is a whistle fuel meant for lifting heavy stuff on long spindles
