Most of them as devout Christians regularly visited churches and thus were familiar with the the sound of large church organs. Not the same but certainly similar so that the sound of whistles wasn't as alien to them.

Those microphones are a hundred years old And since they were near the ship it was so loud it’s distorted, Good audio quality. Loud sound And it has to be loud because the whistles would be useless if quiet

-_- I hate that people still think that the fourth funnel had no purpose. Yes, it was used to attract looks. But it was used for ventilation for the kitchen ( and a major vent for many passenger spaces ) and it vented out smoke from the first class smoking room
