Good review. I’ve bought from Big Whistle before and the service is brilliant. When I ordered a whistle from them as a present I’d just moved house and mistakenly used my old post code and when whistle didn’t arrive I contacted them and was sent a replacement whistle and told to send the original whistle back to them when I received it. ( which I did ). Top class service!

I'd love to see you play a medium hard Goldie and the Kerry Chieftain High Ds. They're really air efficient and you get a lot of volume control like that.

Great review. I love my Midgie. My other favorite high D is the Humphrey Journeyman.

This is really nice! If I may ask, what's the tune from 1:17 to 1:27?! I'm fairly new to the whistle, but that sounds like a great one for working ornaments!

I had one of those, it was utterly amazing. The only reason i sold it was because the volume and frequencies hurt my ears when practicing at home, so i figured i'd mostly focus on flute.

I have an MK Pro low d and I love it

Absolutely. Same here. Gorgeous Low D. Hard to decide, sometimes, between that and the Goldie Low D. Luxury problem, I know 😀

@@petterfuhre17 haha yea I hope to have that problem before long myself. Right now my other low whistles are a step down in quality from that level

I have an MK low D and struggle to get a clear high B. Any suggestions?
@jimobrien8410 ай бұрын
@@kirklagory5230 I can always hit it without having to articulate it on its own if I ascend to it legato style. But otherwise I find it safer to tongue it, which pretty much always works for me
@petterfuhre1710 ай бұрын
@@kirklagory5230 Yeah, tonguing it is probably the safest way to go about it. Or a quick slide up from high A. Another thing I've found useful on those higher notes (not so much on my Low D but on my Alba Low C) is to squeeze my lips slightly more. This produces a faster air stream without increasing backpressure. And conversely, lowering my jaw gives better control and more volume to the bell note.

I'm hearing extra notes. Overtone? Harmonics? Not sure about the terminology. Especially on that G 1:26 that I find a little distracting popping up here and there. 🤔
