These tanks were built to do a job. Wonderful, dangerous, powerful and complex pieces of technology that they became, by the time the Chieftains were retired. Leaving them to rot as some rusted out gate guard or sunk in a farmer's field is a very sad end. Far better to see them used, abused and maintained to make people feel a sense of awe and be entertained.

Now everyone has convinced themselves to act like they are a multi millionaire (although they’ve only got the finances of a not particularly well-heeled tramp with a good credit rating), its driven the prices up. Tanks were a LOT cheaper ten years ago, accounting for inflation etc. especially when purchased from the military surplus resellers - they used to sell at or just above scrap prices - scrapping was the option for those that didn’t sell because even the military hasn’t got infinite amounts of room to warehouse obsolete fighting vehicles. When the Challenger 2s come up for sale in a couple of years, you’ll k ow when to pounce but I doubt they’ll ever sell at scrap value again. Possibly because of KZbin et al, they will force-scrap 3/4ers of them to keep the supply low and demand high. Which is always going to be better than just scrap value. Them there military surplus blokes are a lot of things, but they’re not idiots (well, most of them anyway).

Needless to say my dad rolled his eyes and continued with his day.

Who doesn't want to see a tank do all sorts of stuff that you wish you could do yourself? don't tell me it isn't a childhood dream to drive over a car or through a bus! Diesel is a bit crazy but I had a feeling he didn't just buy it to smash it and discard it like a broken toy. I think he has a lot of passion for cars and for what he does. It is very good to hear he has restored it, and that he inspired you to make this channel, bless him. I love watching you tinker on your tanks!

I don't think whatever hate he receives has anything to do with the tank. It's a tank. It's a hunk of metal made to go to war. Who cares if it gets beat up. It's just that some people, including me, don't like people who just break stuff for youtube likes, views and subs. It's this fake, edgy persona he has created
