Guybrush- Sorry for the late reply. Hope you felt it was a rewarding experience.

You should be real proud of yourself, it takes real guts to compete. Everyone who steps into that ring deserves respect. There's a good chance I'll be fighting soon as well and this video has helped me; hope you still train even if you dont compete.

Do you know how many rounds and how long each round is for the fights?

ITV recently aired a documentary on the UWCB to which I have uploaded a video on my thoughts.

Thanks for the video man, some awesome info. I have a few questions though Can you do the training with a friend as my friend is interested as well? Do you HAVE to fight at the end of it? And do you have to provide your own equipment through out etc? What are the training sessions like? are they one on one or groups etc, could you elaborate? Thanks again mate :D
@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT19 жыл бұрын
Ziyico Thanks for watching. Yes, sure if your friend is interested you can both come along but you will need to work with others as well- I mean with sparring for example you need to vary who you fight. If you specifically join the UWCB you should know it is designed with the purpose of having a fight at the end; that is why people generally want to do it because they are not professional boxers and may have other commitments in life but want the opportunity to have a real bout with everything that involves. You need to sell tickets and the organisers would need to have an even number of fighters at the event. If you do go to the initial meeting they will not force you to do anything and you can drop out in the early weeks but I think it would be pointless after you have sold the tickets, been through the intense training and so on. So if you just want boxing training for exercise, UWCB is not for you. I would recommend just go along to your nearest regular boxing gym; a lot of people do that just for exercise. There is usually a small charge- about £2 per session. Regarding equipment, the only thing you need to provide in the training is your kit (and in training that can be any loose gym clothes and trainers- doesn't need to be professional boxing clothes) but they provide pads, gloves, headgear and so on. I recommend getting a gumshield for sparring (usually under £5 from a sports store) maybe a towel. In the fight itself, you will need to get at least basic boxing kit- boots and trunks. However they will provide the vest (with your fighting name and headgear) - they provide the gloves. In some stores you will find discounts so altogether it shouldn't be too much- very likely less than £50. There are two teams- red and blue so I recommend dressing according to which team you'll be in. You also need to pay £5 for the handwrap on the night. One big advantage of UWCB however is that unlike a regular gym the training itself is entirely free- they make the profit from he tickets that are sold. Regarding the gym facilities, it depends where you are- some gyms are bigger than others. Where I trained in Sunderland had all the equipment we needed but there were about 20 of us and so it was difficult to get space- we were literally all moving around trying to spar at once- that's not easy but it does make you aware of your body movements/co-ordination. Sparring is one-on-one but you will regularly switch sparring partners. When we are not sparring, you are hitting the bags, doing push-ups and taking tips from the trainer etc. Training sessions are twice a week- you don't 'have' to come to them all but they do recommend you get to as many as possible. Towards the end of your training period, you will be matched up with your opponent, have weigh-in photos and so on. UWCB is nationwide in England so wherever you live there should be local contacts. I hope this helps a bit. If you are interested in boxing, but cannot commit full-time to training and want a bout with all the fanfare involved, UWCB is great. I'll be honest - trying to sell the tickets and raise the charity money wasn't so easy but that aside, it was a thoroughly worthwhile experience. Best Wishes; Do let me know if you go ahead with it!

I was going to do it but they started pestering me for money that was never mentioned an i didnt just have £180 gutted 😢

Did they ask you for money too?
@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT14 жыл бұрын
@@harrisharris6277 sorry for the late response. If it was the UWCB were they not 'upfront' about the cancer research aspect? whereby we need to raise money for that? you shouldn't have had to pay for any training - the main cost involved should be in your trunks, boots and top but that should be much less than £180 sorry to hear that was a barrier for you, I'm not financially stable right now so can empathise
