Thank you for sharing your recipe. You did a wonderful job explaining all the steps. Just need to ask you...can I replace the water with buttermilk or milk instead? I also would like to a combination of pure almond extract, clear vanilla extract and butter extract. By you using the cup to measure out how much batter to put into the pan and the baking temperature and minutes to bake in order not to overbake was VERY HELPFUL. Thanks again 😊.
@thomasplace8 ай бұрын
I have only made this recipe as written so I can't give you an answer about the substitutions mentioned. The combination of almond extract and clear vanilla isn't a problem. I'm not a big fan for the butter extract but it's your call on that one. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write.

Hello Diane! I just love your videos! Thank you so kindly for sharing all these wonderful recipes!! May I ask what size mixer bowl you have? I have a kitchen aid and my bowl does not look big enough for this recipe- so I will need to purchase one 😊
@thomasplace Жыл бұрын
I have a professional 6 qt. If you go to the kitchen aid website, you can find a chart that will tell you the amounts your mixer can handle. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write.

Where do you get your cake pans from? Could you please illustrate how to take a sheet cake from a cake pan to a board to frost? Thank you!
@thomasplace4 жыл бұрын
I bought them through a restaurant supply... You can buy pans at Michael's, Williams Sonoma. I flip my cakes onto a cooling rack and allow them to cool . Then when it's time to put them on a board, I flip them back into the pan, put the board on top of the pan and flip the cake onto the board. I've never had a problem doing them that way.

How does the addition of water instead of milk affect the flavor of the cake? And does the gluten from the flour activate with all of the mixing that is required to make this cake?
@thomasplace5 жыл бұрын
If your looking for a cake recipe that uses milk I have several on my channel. . The quantity of water present also plays into the gluten-forming process. Adding too little water won't work; the flour must be sufficiently hydrated to activate the proteins that form gluten.

Hi Diane. I love your videos! I do have a question. I will surely let you know how your cake baked for me. But do you use salted or unsalted?
@thomasplace5 жыл бұрын
Generally if I use unsalted butter I mention it, there are some recipes I lower the salt due to using regular butter. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write....
@Hotpinksynergy5 жыл бұрын
Hi Diane, So the cake came out beautifully. My batter was thicker so I could have went with all the batter but it’s great! And I find it to taste a bit flourly, so next time I might add 1 extra teaspoon of extract but overall GREAT recipe! This cake is melting in my mouth. And thank you so much for the videos. I love to hear you. -Tracy
