This man is hilarious. The brutal irony of him referencing when white dudes would throw up what they call the "hang loose" sign is that they also appropriated that from Hawaiian culture. In Hawaii, it's originally called the "Shaka" and originated when a Hawaiian sugar mill worker in the early 1900s named Hamana Kalili, who lost his three central fingers in an accident, would hold up his hand to give the "all clear" sign indicating that the sugar train was clear of stowaways. When people from elsewhere would come to Hawaii to visit the birthplace of surfing, they picked up the gesture that the locals were using and popularized it outside of Hawaii, renaming it other things in the process.
