From my perspective it seemed as though he wasn’t bitter but more disappointed that he was stil alone.

I just finished reading White Nights and needed to hear someone talking about it hah The ending was very sad, but at least, if one would call it that way, the narrators now have a "history". He also could have a friend, but it surely would shatter his soul to see the woman he loved married to the man she loved, so he is still alone after all. This short novel reminds me a little of the song "Alone again, naturally". Anyways, thanks for the video!

!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!! !!!!!SPOILERS!!!!! !!!!!SPOILERS!!!!! Nastenka literally broke my heart while i was reading the 4th night, she seemed like the perfect woman, the one who will never replace you with anyone at anycost, but i think the lesson that the book is trying to teach us is that if someone genuinely wants something or someone, they will never forget them, the second they get the chance to be with the one that they want, they will take that chance instantly.

Rally summerizes the dangers of simping to somebody, particularøy if you know they have some feelings to another human being. It is deeply relatable.

The way you described the character's situation and his loneliness reminds me of the main character in Crime and Punishment. Thats the only Dostoevsky book ive read tho i definitely need to read notes from underground
@MicahCummins Жыл бұрын
I would highly recommend both to you! The main character between this story and Crime and Punishment do share some similar character traits indeed.

@@MicahCummins You're welcome, Micah! I'm returning to my English studies this year and I'm going to try to reread some classics of literature in English editions. I'm thinking of reading Dostoyevsky in English translations, out of curiosity, as well as English classics like Frankenstein, A Christmas Carol, Romeo and Juliet, etc.
