This is our trip to White Pocket, Arizona. It is part of the Vermillion Cliffs and Grand Staircase Escalante. This is truly a gorgeous area where we spent the entire day. You will see several videos of what it has to offer and I think you will be seriously impressed. I appreciate you riding along with us.

Thank you Danny! I'll be doing White Pocket soon and have been watching as many deep sand/route to white pocket videos to prepare. Thanks again!

@@DannyFyffe Now that we have this, we will attempt going there as we didn't want to get lost and you covered exactly those parts to keep in mind with all the visuals from the front and back. Also, it gives us an idea of the vehicle we need to take. I have a Honda CR-V and that is not going to work. Lol.

@@VipulDK You definitely need 4 wheel drive. Even with that, you will want to keep a steady speed. Not fast and not slow, just steady forward momentum and you will be fine. I'm glad my video saved you from getting stranded out there. It is remote, but it is gorgeous out there. Let me know how your trip goes and share this video so others can see it too. Take care.

Great video!!!Before 5:50 time on your video, may I drive a two wheel drive car parking near the farm? I plan use electric bike for rest of the road, is that good? Thanks

It has been 4 years since I was there, but as it was then, it should be ok, but after this, the sand gets deep and I would say you would have an extremely difficult time. You really should not attempt that in anything less than a 4 wheel drive. Please reconsider your plan as the desert is a dangerous place.

Danny Fyffe , thanks a lot for your reply. My folding electric bike can run by full manual power or use electric too. I hope can work for this trip. Also if I feel any dangerous before arrive white pocket, I will return as soon as. Thanks for your advice again.

@@SONICMAIL2000 You are very welcome. I wish you well, but I do strongly advise that if you do not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, you hire a company to take you out there. There are several of them in that area that do that. Take care, be safe and think about getting someone to take you. Thanks for enjoying the video. I hope you subscribe to me and like the video.

I was wondering if you could give any more information on the drive. What vehicle did you drive in and did you have any trouble? Also, if I didn't feel comfortable driving the full way if the sand gets too deep/soft, can we pull off and hike the rest of the way in?

Natalie Thomas I was driving an FJ cruiser. There are several places you could pull off and home the rest. It would be tough in that sand, but if you are in shape, you could do it. But the trick is momentum. Don't go too fast or too slow. Just keep a steady speed and keep rolling. If you go, please let me know. I would love to go back and will within a year or two for sure.

At this time and weather, month of July, would a front wheel drive minivan be able to survive the deep sand or would you recommend an AWD or 4x4?

Danny Fyffe Hello Danny! Will it be possible to meet with you this may? I'm going to visit White Pocket in the beginning of may, so I will be glad to go there with you!

Thanks for sharing. Did you happen to encounter deep soft sand? Did you use a map or GPS to get there? If GPS, which do you own? Thanks, cheers.

You are very welcome. thanks for watching. To answer your questions: Yes I did, the soft deeper sand is the last half or so of the track. I used GPS, but to ensure I got there, I used Google maps before I left home and put down mileage, turns, etc. so that is truly what i used before I left home. I own a garmin GPS, but they are not real reliable/ I think all GPS has issues. So make your own maps by taking notes, put them locally on your phone so you don't have to worry about GPS, telecommunications and all the rest. I hope the video was helpful. I will return out there again as I think it is gorgeous.

Thank you for your reply Danny Fyffe I do the same thing on Earth Pro, I map out and write down mileage, turns, cattle guards etc. I just feel like I'm starting to get into out of the map locations like the Vermilion Cliffs, Red Rock Secret Canyon, the KOFAs and need to get a GPS just to be 100% of my location. People in a jeep community I'm a member of have recommended Backcountry Navigator, will be looking into that here shortly. Happy, safe travels, hellos from Phoenix.

I am wanting to go later this month or next month but am worried about the sand... I drive a Ford Raptor ... if u wanna go out in the next few months with me, let me know! I’d love to drive the road with someone who has been out there before!

Thanks for writing to me and watching the video. I won't be able to make it this year as I have the rest of the year already planned. If you go, just air down and keep your speed constant and steady and in a Raptor you should not have any issues at all. If you do go, please take and share your video. That is a gorgeous area or there. I will make it back at some point.

I have an FJ but no 4wd...weak I know...but I was thinking about taking my car just because of those drives
@DannyFyffe
@DannyFyffe 3 жыл бұрын
Not weak at all. It was your choice. I would not suggest you go all the way back as 4 Wheel drive is required on some of that road, but the other parts can easily be driven in 2 wheel drive. So get out and enjoy the scenery you have. Take care and enjoy that FJ.
