The privilege of working for department that is wealthy enough to have sports medicine on site and cover those costs. Rest of us are paying out of pocket during our off-days to get that treatment, amazing. Applause to White River Fire prioritizing the health and fitness of their firefighters and medics, really great.

I used to work at a company that provided IT services to local and state governments. As the PM I got to go to every single fire station in my town and other towns and I gotta say they were incredibly cozy feeling. Very comfortable inside and the firefighters were awesome to us. They always had a ton of donuts or cookies the public dropped off for them that they’d let us have.

Greetings from an Australian paramedic. Can somebody explain how the rostering works with the paramedics at Station 53? I'm assuming they work a 24 hour roster? A town that size here would yield about 10-12 jobs in a 24 period. My questions are what's the workload like, and how are they expected to work non stop in 24 hours? I'm in a larger city where we average 8-10 jobs in a 12 hour shift, so basically zero rest time, and maybe 2-3 hours on a nightshift.

And this is the difference between a 1st world, developed country and a 3rd world country folks. What an amazing station. Yes, a lot of tax dollars have gone into it but that's what tax dollars are for. Saving lives, homes and everything in between. Just awesome and what a great example for the kids. The only sad thing is when the station master mentioned active school shooters as if it's a fairly common thing over there. Very sad indeed. Great video HND, thanks and greetings from New Zealand. Stay safe everyone :)

Here in Victoria, Australia all our urban brigades or either Volunteer (CFA), or full time (FRV) with no part time/paid firies. Do part time US departments run off on call services? I’m uncertain and curious. Cheers from down under 🇦🇺
@DFPFilms12 жыл бұрын
We have a mix, larger cities are paid, mid size to small cities and towns are usually also often paid with some exceptions rural areas are usually all volunteers, however it is also become common to see departments running a mix of a paid with volunteers as extra manpower for large scale or multiple incidents. My department for example is paid EMS during the day with volunteers for second calls and night shift, we moved to this because our town is growing and in the last 4 or so years we went from about 500 calls for service to over 3,000. Other departments operate on a “paid on call” basis, for example I worked for a town where you got paid minimum wage to be “on call” with the perk of being able to sit at home and make money and if you were activated you received double time pay for the duration of that call which was a good way to keep cots low while make sure service is guaranteed when someone calls 911.
