The white-tailed lapwing or white-tailed plover (Vanellus leucurus) - inhabits the desert zone of Western and Central Asia.
This story is from the family life of one pair of these rare and beautiful waders. Building a nest and clearing approaches to it, dismantling with meadow tirkuhs and fights with marsh harriers, love and incubation of eggs, feeding and relationships with a jackal, and finally - chicks.
In Azerbaijan, white-tailed pigals first appeared in nesting in 1961. Since then, they nest regularly, but are rare everywhere. No more than 20 pairs. The species is listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
