If Akainu fought full power with awakening he would’ve beat whitebeard same with whitebeard if he fought full power. But both Akainu and whitebeard have destructive power that can destroy any side if they use 100% of their power.

To answer your question about crocodile and Whitebeard, it’s generally believed that Whitebeard wiped out Crocodiles crew at some point before the events of one piece. Some who assume this also say crocodile is essentially Luffy if his crew was killed. Think of crocodile as a possible bad ending for luffys character. Keep in mind that this is all pure speculation but it makes sense.
