LYRICS: It’s just the way it is How did I find myself to be so pitiful and vulnerable And I lay my head upon an empty heartbeat I’m alone and I’m miserable It’s just the way that it is and it’s hopeless now I’ll never leave the prison inside my head No one will ever understand the way it feels To shut out the emotion that drives me back to you Is that your voice that I hear Is that the touch that I had once feared Is that the way that you look now Is this what we are Cynical ole me, beckoning for company An illusion that I dream of in a nightmare What do I care if you’re here and there’s nothing left Inside of your hollow shell I’m still alone, I’m still miserable Is there hope somewhere in this case of flesh we call our home I don’t feel it Mother, father please go back to sleep I can’t bare to see you barely alive We’re all alone, we’re all miserable Forget my voice Forget my eyes My heart is content now to betray my insides

These kinds of songs on the last album were actually my gateway into Whitechapel. I am also a metal vocalist from India, and Whitechapel and Phil Bozeman had been one of my biggest inspirations ever. I just want to thank you guys for composing such a masterpiece, and Phil this is for you, you as a person saved me from hell, so thank you for everything that you have done, you're the best vocalist and one of the best human beings to have ever been born. Whitechapels most admirable quality, in my opinion, is their versatility; being able to convey a solemn, powerful, emotional sorrow through multiple different styles of sound. A Bloodsoaked Symphony being representative of Phil's extreme torment and rage for the world around him caused by his past, and the constant doom his mind is plagued by. While this song, though being based on the same trauma, has a much more emotional and sorrowful aura to it. I respect a band who is able to convey a meaning in many ways.

Both of my parents passed when I was a teenager. My mother when I was 17 my father 19. My father was much older and got Alzheimer’s when I was 11. So he went to a home and didn’t know who I was. I've been listening to Whitechapel since their somatic defilement/true believer days. It has been such an incredible experience seeing how far these guys have come and how much they have evolved over the years. Whitechapel has truly gained legendary status and will be a band that will inspire many other bands for years to come. This song is an absolute masterpiece!! You all did such an incredible job with these last 3 songs so far and I'm extremely excited for the new album!

I love how Whitechapel has evolved over the years. They started out as a typical deathcore band, which was pretty cool already, and now their music is so much more intense and well written. You guys are awesome. 🤘🏼

They could refer to intense emotionally-wise, it doesn’t have to be 150mph head banging to be just as if not more powerful.

When I heard the song and heard clean vocals I was a little down. Then, I decided to put on my open minded thinking cap and I love it. His clean vocals are bloody amazing. You guys killed it!

Tbh this never shocked me...If you ever listened to Diggs Road. That song used to leave me all emotional...sure it's all gutturals but it still evokes the same emotion and feeling Orphan invokes. Orphan does Digg's Road with a slightly more emotional vibe. Whitechapel have the ability to convey the same emotion with two completely different styles.

I love this, it feels like a natural use of their sound, it still feels very much like they always have, but with a cool twist, I really hope to see many more cool uses for Phillybo's cleans, because this was an excellent showcase of what he can do!

BROTHER I almost didn't believe it. After the first full chorus I knew it was coming. You boys finally went for a full clean song and delivered flawlessly. Amazing, keep up the great evolution and amazing passion for your craft. Phil I am absolutely loving your cleans, diversity as a vocalist is essential, if anything to not bore yourself. Hell yeah, good shit.

Parts of it reminded me of like some early Seether, and a bit of early 2000s Nu-Metal's slower songs. Really liked this.

After listening to the albums, I thought about how much Phil put his soul and pain into them. Each song hits home in its own way. And, yes, I agree with many, Phil has the gift of experimenting, being like a monster in vocals and then abruptly switching to clean vocals. masterpiece. Well, I have great respect for him for his difficult journey, because he didn’t give up and moved on and was able to get out of all this!!!
