when my two children were still very little their Father walked out and left us all . He left me penniless and left for another woman . consequently i had nothing for giving my children a Christmas with that year . But , a neighbor gave me a lot of fabric an threw an needles an pins . so i went out an found a huge huge tumble weed spray painted it white , stuck it in a flower pot , then made hand made hand sewn ornaments for it from fabrics , hung them on it , even had some striped fabric i made stuffed candy canes out of an hung them on the tumble weed too , an then hand made my children several toys an wrapped them for them to open just in plain brown butcher paper . i’m now sixty eight my daughter is now forty seven , my son forty six and both tell me every year at Christmas that this was one of the most memorable and happy Christmases they have ever had in their lives . My daughter also says this is because of what i did for them . life often does hurt an is devastating , but with a God we do not have to let it totally defeat us .

Thanks for the branch tree. Those were our Christmas trees! My dad would cut a mesquite branch. My mom made thick soap and cover the branches. We's made chain garland glued with diluted flour; and that were our trees!! Thanks for bringing back those memories!

I love those twig trees..natural is always best. Don't forget to forage a nest or make one from your twigs to put on your Christmas tree. A bird nest is a symbol of the home, it reminds us that we strive to make a place where our family can grow and prosper. Considered to be a good luck symbol, the bird represents all of the love, warmth, enthusiasm & commitment required in creating the happiest of homes.
@alb95493 жыл бұрын
Funny you mention a nest… I actually found a nest in our Christmas tree last year. The cutest thing. Although I didn’t keep it. The tree ended up getting a lot of tiny bugs on it so we had to get rid of it ASAP. Wish I could share the photo I took of it. 🌲
@robinaanstey37343 жыл бұрын
@@alb9549 That's too bad that you got rid of it. You can always put the nests in your oven on a very low temp for an hour or so. It will kill of any bugs and help preserve the nest. Next time :-)

I don't mind the rustic look. I too love to walk through the forest ( or bush as I like to call it) looking for twigs that I could use in some sort of arrangement. When I was a little girl we (my cousins, friends) used to make play houses in the bush. We loved our "houses" and would play out all day. Sometimes we'd go and "borrow" from another girls house lol . Such great memories I have of by gone days. So much more simpler back then.

I made all my front porch and stairs decorations myself this year. I am blessed to have pine tress and a huge weeping willow tree in my yard . Made a garland all down the banister, tying it to it . . Put in red netting made into Rosettes flowers with green ribbons . I live where it rains a lot . An added bonus is water droplets on the netting look like diamonds . I made a branch ladder and decorated it with homemade “hat gnomes .. Then I got going on Pinterest and made a branch tree and made a lot of different twig small ornaments . Thanks to you I am now making the twig tree . I hot glued the center tall branch on a wooded block . The hot glue turned white and it looks like snow ! I have to wait for the rain to stop so I can gather the twig branches and finish . I plan on mixing white glue and shaving cream to make fake snow on the tree . Thanks for sharing your ideas . Merry Christmas 🎅🏽
