Loved this video. I see suitcases and wonder what to do with them, and now I know. Another idea for a garden is a Resurrection Garden. Much like your Fairy Garden but with a cross (or 3) made of twigs and no other twig structures. Place a little plastic cup painted black or brown on its side covered with moss on top and sunk down in the soil a bit. And of course the “tomb” is left empty. Rocks here and there add to the landscape. Kids can help place the items, too. You did a great job!

Just to add: these little gardens can be made in a plastic tray bought at a dollar store along with the cup, or can be made in a pot flower saucer.

I have a travel trunk from the 1940's that I bought from a junk store that was going out of business. When I got it home and opened it I discovered that on the inside of the lid the owner, from long ago, had used a light pink ribbon to form the Jewish star. Of course that got the family involved in discussions of who may have owned the trunk and the circumstances of her life. I am turning it into a coffee table for my living room.

Loved everything Mary! I'm going to check out the new wooden Ten Commandments sign-thanks and y'all stay safe with all the upcoming bad weather. (I watch the Ryan Hall, Y'all-KZbin channel. He is better than any weatherstation in this country! He has storm chasers on the ground whenever severe weather is popping up and instudio-his weather predicting capabilities rival anyone's. I'm old and I've seen them all over the country and he has them all beat. He warned us when we had a tornado outbreak in my little bitty town in north Louisiana-he was telling us exactly where it was and to take shelter, NOW. Ryan is in Kentucky I believe-but he covers the entire country when talking about upcoming weather. No, I'm not related to him, have never met him but he's worth every single thing I have said. It's hilarious, people's babies watch him, their cats and dogs, and of course, us humans really appreciate him.

When we kids had left home my Mum started making dandelion wine, she would ask the neighborhood kids to pick the dandelion heads and give them sweets in return. I personally found the wine too sweet but all her visitors enjoyed it. Love these fairy gardens❣️

I love these! I made over two old suitcases a few years ago. I put one on top of the other and put legs on the bottom one. I store all of my old photos in them! So much you can do with suitcases!

Adorable fairy garden! Love your plant choices, I have native moss too. And I'm now motivated to not buy pre-made mini benches! Fence idea: take small twigs, each twig touching, just stick them in the ground all along one edge. Don't even need glue or anything, Your garden could have another cat (since you have two for real, right?) and hiding somewhere for people to "find"! : ) A pretty rock here and there is nice detail too. My fairy (gnome) garden is in an old metal washtub on a stand (actually a double washtub = 2). They're just outside my kitchen window, but are in the sun & rain, so I'm thankful for the washtub drainage. Hen & chicks do well, as do violets (not African fuzzy ones!)

You have such great ideas and talent Mary. I have a couple suitcases I use to store my year round decor pieces. I have a beautiful one I used for decor, it’s vintage and in great condition inside. I filled it with cotton/snow at Christmas and a large village house with lights and placed it on my guest bed with a blanket with a house on it. I’ve seen people add hairpin legs to them and make them into a side table. I love the fairy garden. I have things for one but I never did it when it was all the rage, but they are always fun.

My local expert (whose nursery sells nothing but fairy garden plants and accessories) on fairy gardens says the correct soil to use is palm and cactus soil. The miniature plants last for many years in that, without repotting. They need the good drainage which you don’t have… You need some fairies from hobby lobby! 🤭. My grandkids play with my fairy garden areas in the back yard. 🧚‍♀️
