My personal guess is this: a) I feel like he definitely did at some point in the timeline, but how long he maintained it is another question entirely... b) For normal people who don't put themselves on crazy modelling diets, you can be hella ripped and still not have stage abs when not actively flexing - It's a lot more common to get to a point where you look very defined when flexing but very undefined when you're not flexing. Like you don't just maintain the 6-pack while you're relaxed, even if you have it. So from Taemin's description my guess is he might be the type to have stronger definition than Jong/Tae when flexing, but less when he's not? Like... I don't think a person could even get through their concerts or some of their promotions without having pretty impressive abs so my feeling is that at least during those times they exist. Thus my real guess: c) The issue with showing your abs confidently on stage is that, for most people, you have to barely eat that day and skip your meals till after the performance. Given things they've said, I'd say it's pretty definite that Jjong & Taemin both skip/reduce their meals before topless performances, and you hear this a lot from models of both genders as well, regarding things like no meals before photoshoots. As a mildly hypoglycemic person, I have always wondered how anyone maintains stamina when they do that, so my guess is that Onew is just the type of reasonable human who can't function as well without eating and doesn't care enough about showing himself off to sacrifice his stamina for it - so whenever they mention it, it's like, he already ate that day and therefore doesn't have the confidence to show it? Whereas we know for sure that, regardless of how concerned we may feel about it, Jjong and Tae are the type who can and do skip meals and still be able to work :/ (god, why are my comments always 5 miles long, sorry x_x)
