My favorite line in the game is from Cere: Darth Vader: "You've gotten stronger." Cere: "No, I've only let go of my fear." Awesome line. Great character. Sad to see her go.

Dude, I’m so glad Eric mentioned the choreography with Vader in this game. He never looked more like a samurai when he fights than in this game. This is one of my favorite boss fights in a video game simply because of how cool the movements Vader makes are on top of how fun, exciting, and surprising it all was.

This game made me feel the hopelessness of the Jedi Order in the wake of Order 66 more than any other game. Cal's heart breaks when he sees the hologram of all the Imperial forces all over the galaxy. He had no idea how strong the Empire was.

I think that Ravis let Cal kill him. He craved a warrior's death, but felt, as he said, that there are no wars to gain honor from and that he can't get the kind of death he wants, fighting the empire. But when he met Cal, learned of his actions and fought him, he acknowledged him and felt that Cal finally could give him the warrior's death Ravis longed for, for so long at last. Also: I feel like, if anything, Cal might build his own order (or not even an order but just school for force sensitive children to keep them save from the empire on Tanalor and teach them how to handle their abilities) as he will build it with his experiences in mind, as well as together with Merrin and probably other people he will meet in the future. This would result in a school or order that is way more open minded and varied in it's teachings (so one that is not limited to the Jedi's perception of the force and their ways of utilizing it, but also of the night witches and possibly all kinds of other force sensitive cultures) and will propably also concentrate a lot on dealing with one's emotions in a healthy way and with the help of others as well as morals. While Luke, at least according to what was shown in Boba Fett, seems to build his order after the ways of the old order which (if it won't be retconned in any way) will just result in it's fall once again. Btw: I think Bode not only served as a tool to get Cal to the breaking point of using the dark side, but also as a tool to introduce a child figure, Cal and Merrin have to take care of, which will most likely be a big plot device of the next game without them having to give birth to,- and raise a child of their own to a certain age first. Additionally, I liked Cere a lot already but her giving Vader such a hard time as she did, manifested my massive respect for her and her abilities. Anyway, like I mentioned before, in the end I think Cal's story could be one that emphasizes the misconceptions about the force and what's dark and light and right and wrong by the Jedi Order. And that it ultimately doesn't come down to light sight and dark side but the people who utilize it instead and in what ways. As well as how important emotional balance is, not restrictions, not the denial of attachments but clear (but not inflexible and not stuck up) morals as well as healthy relationships with the people around one and their support. That true connection to the force might not be detaching one self from the Galaxy, but experiencing the Galaxy and forming connections with,- and getting to know the people and cultures within it.

People (beings) have a tendency to think their way is best. I read Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void and it outlined a great training idea. Each “school” had a different focus, like tech, health, science, etc. A student had to travel to each one and graduate before they were considered a full-fledged Je’dai. To build on your idea, having each padawan spend time at different schools would help keep them from becoming too dependent on a specific ideology and would give them a more well-rounded training experience.
@FluffyJackieАй бұрын
@@SraMacaco That would be an interesting approach, I'm wondering how they could apply that during the time of the Empire without getting discovered by them.🤔 Were those "schools" on different planets or on different parts on the same planet? If it was the latter, making that practice work would be tremendously simpler to achieve.
@SraMacacoАй бұрын
@@FluffyJackie I was talking about during peacetime. If Cal Kestis, Rey and Ahsoka all started their own schools, you can see how their philosophies might differ based on the experiences they’ve had. And the Je’dai I mentioned traveled to different schools on the same planet.

The "Jedi Survivor" is obviously a theme, but I wished they talked about it a bit more. The whole story is based around "surviving", which is shown in multiple ways. Aside from the fact all the main characters are survivors of the Empire, but the way they survive and the way the want to do so is what fuels the story. Cal is only surviving, he's not taking time for himself, he's not caring about his health, he's not socializing, he's just fighting the empire and surviving. Bode is obsessed with surviving, he only cares about the life of his daughter, and he'll do anything to make that happen, even completely ignore his daughter. Merrin is truly surviving, survival is about life, and Merrin is living life. She's allowing herself to love, moving on from the horrors of her past, growing as a person and a witch. Dagan is not surviving really, he has already survived, he's the product of when evil survives. He moves on immediately from exiting his bacta tank, to attempting to take over the galaxy. He's mostly there to fuel Cal's fear of letting the Empire go. But Cere is the counterpart to Dagan in this game, she also has already survived. She's not just surviving like Cal is, she had the arc in the first game, she's not living life like Merrin, she's already grown and moved past all her troubles for the most part, she's the product of when good survives. She's focusing on making a future for future Jedi, by restoring the archives, and assisting Cal back to the path he needs to go on. This is also why she dies in this game, she has nothing left to do really in terms of the story. So she gives up her life to fight Vader, and potentially create a better life for others. This is also why Cal here's Cere's voice at the end, and takes up her role as mentor for Jedi. Cal learns throughout the game what it means to live, and moves on, freeing himself of his empire obsession, and becoming a mentor for future Jedi. That acceptance that he has to let the Empire go, cuz if he continues trying to fight them all he'll succeed at is losing all he has left. Making that decision to truly survive, is what was so important.

GUYS! MAUL IN the third game: We had a different set of bad guys, in addition to imperials in both the first two games, my thought would be to have Cal be part of the reason why Darth Maul’s shadow syndicate has fallen apart by the time we see him in rebels. It also seemed like Maul may have gone up against Vader before we see him in rebels, he mentions knowing that he’s not able to defeat Vader alone. I think it would be cool to see Cal versus Maul and his syndicate, and also vs Vader/inquisitors (maybe the brother who died in rebels who had been hunting Maul)

Ideas for the next Jedi game title: The best I came up with is Jedi: Redemption - It's another multi-meaning title that will fit into the theme of Cal dealing with his anger and regret. Maybe this game ties up Cal's story (but leaves an opening for a follow-up with with Merrin and Kata surviving on Tanalorr). If this game takes place another 5 years later; it lines up with the Andor timeline so maybe we will see Saw again and maybe run into Luthen or some connections to what is going on in that show. These games are an excellent way to explore places from the shows; so I would love it if Redemption took us to Ferrix post-Andor to see what the Empire does the city after the revolt.

Super late to the curve, but if someone sees this, I hope they agree. I’m very thankful for only two light saber forms at a time, considering whenever a game with a big skill tree makes a sequel, you always have to wonder how many of the abilities you’ll have to regain and they’ll be able to fit more abilities on the controller that’s already taken up fully. So limiting how many forms you can use, really helps with the abundance of extra button-pressing that you would need to do to handle all of the lightsaber forms

I agree with Eric. I don't know why you would bother introducing a GENDAI into canon, just to have him die so soon and so easily. Literally the only thing that Gen'Dai do, is be strong, and not die. And they scuffed both of those. They didn't even say in trailer like "Oh this guy is a Gen'Dai" for hype, they revealed that in the game. They could have named his species literally anything else, and it would've been fine.

I loved Survivor so much despite having one of the worst launches I’ve ever seen. Arguably worse than cyberpunk. There were moments where I literally wanted to drop the game it was that bad. But I persevered because of my love for Star Wars. I just love Star Wars games so much. Video games are my favorite way to consume Star Wars content. Starkiller, Cal, and Merrin are my top three favorite Star Wars characters of all time. I hope we keep getting more amazing Star Wars games like this one. But sometimes it feels like the universe just doesn’t want good Star Wars games to happen. Old republic remake was cancelled, 1313 was cancelled, Outlaws looks cool but it’s being made by Ubisoft so who knows how that’ll turn out, there was a Mando game that was announced and then cancelled within a week, god knows what’s happening with Eclipse. It just feels like the world is out to get Star Wars games. I can only hope things turn around.
