I never knew how much work went into a snowboard. I'm not even mad about the price anymore.

Most snowboards arent produced like this. The prices on a lot of mass produced boards/skies is still pretty ridiciolus.

Yeah, man. These are handmade boards! Do you think all Burton and such boards are made this way? C'mon. By the time they have finish this board, a company like Burton has produced about 10,000 boards...

Hey! I'm a to be carpenter, and i find this so utterly amazing! Can you tell me the details please? Is the core made out of ash? What kind of epoxi did you use? Is that blue wood only for decorating, or is that something special? What kind of plastic did you use? Can I change the plastic to ash veneer? The steel edge protector goes only to the plastic parts? Did you use epoxi on the fiberglass layers too? If you could answer me theese questions I'd be very thankful and happy! Thank you, best regards, Erik.
@GLopez-yg9gj7 жыл бұрын
I made my own snowboard, so I know a bit from all of the research it took. The core is commonly made out of poplar and cherry because of their desirable flex characteristics. The blue "wood' is actually a plastic sidewall. You can read more about it here theskimonster.com/blog/posts/sidewall-vs-cap-construction/. The plastic is P-tex, and the steel edge is put between the base and core, but fiberglass runs between the edge and core. They use epoxy for the fiberglass also.

3:48 What’s the piece of paper with the metal around it for? I see him layering some fiber glass on it and then the wood core and then a 2nd later of fiberglass on top of the wood core. I don’t understand what happened to the paper with metal around it after that or what it’s for?
@mikesavage40942 жыл бұрын
snowboard bases have metal outlines so you can carve into the snow easier and also to protect the board from chipping

Great work, nice video! Can somebody send me a link about any video or description about making these graphics in details (materials, printer types, how to transfer etc)?
